Structural steel is essentially complete on the 6-story section.  Only the south 2-story (and basement) wing to go.  Cladding is up to the top floor (partially) on the north side of the building.

So I'm not a huge fan of the fake rocks on the base. I'm assuming this is precast concrete?

Absolutely dwarfing QS/1 though. This is a lot larger from the DMA side that I had pictured in my mind!

Yes!  This is what QS1 could and should have been as far as height goes at least!

It's all precast.  The "rough hewn" look to the basement level mimics what buildings with actual stone did in the past (while the main façade mimics smooth-cut limestone).  I appreciate the idea, but I wish the rough portion was a slightly different color (like grey) to better simulate stone (I believe granite was often used, historically).

The first columns have gone up and some windows are installed on the north side:

Yep. I get the look they're going for. I just don't like the vertical seams in the concrete on the rocks (or the side panels quite frankly). If they could somehow eliminate that it would look and feel a lot better. It's a subtle detail that most probably won't notice or care about. I assume it was a value engineering decision.

Yeah, they're using much larger precast panels than I've ever seen in an architectural context (it's closer to industrial applications), which does lead to odd seams bisecting the "stones".  I believe they're filling in the seams to make them a bit less noticeable, but they will still exist due to the method of construction.  So yes, you're right.

Good H-J article about courthouse progress.  All the precast should be done by the end of October, with the exterior mostly complete by November.  Then most work will be on the interior, like elevator installation, electrical, plumbing, etc.  We're fortunate that materials were pre-ordered in January 2021.  If the county had waited until the start of construction in July 2021, the cost of materials could have added $100 million to the project and caused delays of six months or more!  Here are some views from the roof:

Façade is getting relatively close to completion. Still need to build the entry atrium / lobby in the front, also.
