Lots of parking garages have big openings without wire mesh. This one must be different for some reason that's escaping my mind at this hour.

Windows in a parking garage is possible. Look at the Fisher Building garage and the First National garage for examples. It does require expensive ventilation equipment, but it looks so much better.

From what I've seen the only parking garages with large openings, also are ones that the entrance and exit to the next level of the garage is in the middle with the openings having some kind of security barrier at least half way up from the opening. I've never seen a 'tilted' parking garage that has no barriers at the openings. That's an insurance night mare.

Wow, a bunch of great news lately (except the wire mesh stuff). All I can say as that back in the 50's and 60's, I'm shocked that people wanted to cover all that beautiful detail up. Of course, back then they could care less. Damn modernist movement.

I just noticed the chicken mesh today while driving by. How cheap is that, especially when you consider this is located on WOODWARD. I wouldn't mind this on any other street, but on Woodward it makes it ten times worse.

That's a great rendering of 1403. I have always loved the rich, red texture of the facade, but it will look SO nice with all the fixed up lower levels. The new class and fresh restoration makes me think of the Iodent Building.

Everything is custom, built to your tastes. You'll have to email or call for details. They are able to do spaces between 600 & 6000 square feet, depending on how much space you want.

Hmmm, something's wierd. The map in the article points to 1413 Woodward, which they're calling the Valpey Building (i.e. building with Pepper's Shoe store) which had been worked on for past few weeks - and only that one, though article mentions 3.

So I assume that they had bought that building a while back. Maybe the article is a bit late.

The only other building mentioned is the 12 story building on Woodward and Congress, which I assume is the Vinton Building, but I don't think that's one of the 3 buildings.

I saw the guy who headed the Vinton Building renovation partnership last night at LJ's. Construction should start right after the holidays.

I wish Kate Beebe the best of luck. She definitely set downtown on the right path.

She's long been replaced since the GDP no longer exist, by Ann Lang who use head the New Center Council
