  1. Ah, I used to work in that building when it was GE Capital. At least it's not sitting empty anymore.
  2. Grocery store announcement coming soon? Let's hope! http://www.wral.com/full-service-grocery-store-in-downtown-raleigh-could-be-months-away/13795686/
  3. According to a tweet by the TBJ, the Womble Carlyle law firm will be relocating to Charter Square. They were looking at space in Charter Square, Edison, the Wells Fargo Building (their current space) and a new building going up at North Hills. Great get for Charter Square! Also, they broke ground today officially on this building. It will be NC's first LEED Platinum building.
  4. Real Deals: Developers eager to build more apartments along Hillsborough Street
  5. Yes - it's a Chinese food place now.
  6. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/01/28/3572457/land-sale-for-new-downtown-raleigh.html There's a rendering of the new hotel in this story.
  7. City council is reviewing the Residence Inn project on the block between the Duke Energy Center and the Convention Center. Looks like they're looking to have an 11 story hotel with a rooftop bar and ground floor retail. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/01/27/3569740/council-to-review-hotel-deal-next.html Also, the NewRaleigh folks tweeted Publix yesterday and they responded they are actively looking for sites for a downtown grocery. Great news! Let the location speculation begin!
  8. Is there retail on the bottom of the entire building? Perfect for a grocery story if you ask me... Actually, if they put a grocery in the bottom of the building, I would completely forgive them for the crappy design and wasted potential on the site.
  9. It really does look like a taller version of the MWV building in Richmond. Good eye. Also, Red Hat is just completely cut out of the "money shot" now. You'd never know it was there.
  10. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/01/07/3513392/raleigh-council-approves-charter.html Looks like CS should get rolling later this month.
  11. Ugh. So much for first citizens ever going back downtown.
  12. Wilmoor didn't close, she just bought it from them
  13. A new restaurant named for the famous college basketball coach and broadcaster Jim Valvano will be opening soon at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel in downtown Raleigh. Jimmy V’s Osteria & Bar is part of the major renovations that have already begun at the hotel on South Salisbury Street after the hotel was sold in October to a new ownership group.
  14. That's great news! I was just talking with some friends about how that spot is a prime location for an apartment complex.
  15. What about the huge lot next to the convention center where Enterprise is - I think 2-3 buildings at least could fit there.
  16. Here are more details: 11 floors 225k sq ft of spec office space No major tenants yet other than people involved with the building of CS 215 ft tall (slightly taller than the Marriott) TBJ Article N&O Article
  17. N&O: Stalled downtown Raleigh project gets new partner TBJ: New 11-story office building to go up in downtown Raleigh
  18. I know this thread has focused on North Person Street, but I got a letter from the Raleigh Historic Development Commission today about a project at 520 S Person St, Corner of Person and Lenoir for 2 new 3-story rowhouse buildings. Currently there is nothing on the lot. https://www.google.com/maps?q=520+S+Person+St,+Raleigh,+NC&hl=en&ll=35.772613,-78.635062&spn=0.004727,0.010568&sll=35.773138,-78.635705&layer=c&cbp=13,281.46,,0,0.06&cbll=35.773057,-78.635215&hnear=520+S+Person+St,+Raleigh,+Wake,+North+Carolina+27601&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A&panoid=BQqc0b2ntio-r6JMRVUDJA
  19. Kindred, the store that recently opened in the space near Gravy on Wilmington Street has closed due to "sudden events". Not for lack of sales apparently.
  20. Wouldn't that also put Dickey's and Coopers literally right next to each other? I'd prefer Coopers go into an old space on Wilmington, there are plenty left.
  21. Actual retail (not a bar/restaurant) is opening next to Stitch on Wilmington Street. "Feelgoodz" (based out of New Orleans) is opening March 23rd. Check out their facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/feelgoodz.flipflops There are photos of the interior and exterior of the space.
