  1. Yes. I think I saw somewhere where E$PN is already using the term "P2". How (some of) the mighty have fallen in a day. I expect the SEC to add Clemson and Florida State further diminishing the ACC. I also doubt the ACC holds on to Notre Dame (Big Ten). I would say the SEC is the football king unquestionably and even moreso if they add Clemson and Florida State. The Big Ten is not as good in football because they have more dead weight than the SEC. Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota come to mind. Only dead weight (football) in the SEC really is Vanderbilt, Missouri and Kentucky maybe South Carolina. The ACC might be able to salvage some basketball prestige if they act quickly and add Kansas, UConn but those would be horrible football adds. Interesting to see what happens next. All I know is, my team will be on the outside looking in so I'm not really worried about it.
  2. Southern California and UCLA announced a move to the Big Ten Conference.
  3. How was Harbor Fest this year?
  4. Really? What a crappy thing to say. This type of comment and/or attitude is really getting tiresome on these forums.
  5. I'm an "old, white, straight man". Does that make my ideas/desires/needs about urban planning and managing growth less palatable? Would it make them less valid? Isn't marginalizing ideas from this demographic exactly contrary to representation and inclusivity? I have a degree in Urban Planning and many, many years of experience in the profession. I think perspectives from every demographic are important, even from old, white, straight, rich men. Sorry for the rant but I'm tired of more and more conversations (about urban planning) becoming about race, sexual orientation, identity politics, etc. Just my two cents.
  6. What is a "drop-a-pin" location? Asking for a friend.
  7. I'm sure you'll get your explanation soon................
  8. I hope so. Don't put doubt in my mind. My favorite building going up by far. Please let it still look like this.
  9. vituperating I have to have a dictionary near by when I read your posts. Thanks for expanding my vocabulary.
  10. I don't know if this has already been posted but here is a link to an interactive map about Mecklenburg County parks: Meck Co Park Explorer
  11. I may have mentioned this before but my grandmother grew up in Kannapolis and her mother's maiden name was Ritchie (I believe that's the correct spelling). I see the Ritchie Hardware sign and wonder if they are relatives of mine. Things like this make me feel like the Charlotte region, Kannapolis, Concord, etc are another home of mine. I feel a connection to the area.
  12. Stunning! I'd love to go there next time I'm in the area.
  13. It's a tough row to hoe now for the "mall" concept all over the country.
  14. These construction sites always look so tiny to me when they're vacant. But once equipment and construction activities begin they magically become gigantic. Is there no way to request one from the city? Surely Planning or Permitting or another city agency had to review elevations/renderings, right?
  15. I've said this here before and I'll say it again, I am very happy about the Overlook tower portion. It is my favorite current project in Charlotte (and I love Intercontinental and a couple of the South End towers as well). I am stoked about seeing it built. Please KJ, Spiritof76, GMan, the other gentleman with a drone......take alot of pictures for us.
  16. I think the Federal Government should build a new, modern, secure courthouse on the Granby Tower site. Seems a better option that trying to retrofit/upgrade the existing courthouse. If they do and it meets their current requirements they should sell the land the current courthouse is on for development. If they just sit on it I would love to see it become a real park of some sort.
  17. Have the office workers returned to Uptown? Have the employers asked their workers to come back?
  18. What are UP's thoughts on ODU moving sports to the Sun Belt conference and that they are doing it a year early? My personal thought is the Sun Belt isn't that great. ODU basketball will not be any better off in the Sun Belt than it was in CUSA. The Sun Belt is (usually) a one-bid league also. The Sun Belt has a few good football programs but a lot of dead weight like CUSA did. Playing Louisiana Monroe, South Alabama, Troy, Texas St isn't really any better than Middle Tenn, Rice, FIU, etc. The main positive for ODU will be smaller footprint, less travel (time and cost), an in-state rival (JMU), close games for fans to travel to (Marshall, JMU, App St, Coastal Carolina), smaller athletic budgets in the Sun Belt (more sustainable), ODU's facilities are on-par with most of the Belt and in some cases better (no need to really spend a ton of money anymore, after the new baseball facility) I guess I see it as a lateral move that will cost less for ODU and will offer fans closer rivals and travel and more visits from fans of other teams. Also, the media revenue will be better and ODU fans might find it easier to find their teams on TV. So really it's a good thing for ODU in those terms.
  19. What are some of the projects expected to be discussed? Light Rail extension to Military Circle/Military Circle redevelopment? Saint Paul's Quadrant projects/progress? An update on the casino? Updating Chrysler Hall finally?
