I just can't wait for the day we really start to hear some BIG names come to play with innovista. One thing I CAR has on it's side is BMW. That's a plus for them. We are competiting with bigger states in the hydrogen fuel cell research. California,Mich, New York, Ohio etc. One thing California is starting already are actually having stations that will allow cars to fill up on hydrogen fuel cells. And are predicting to have more than 20 stations available across the state of California by 2010. I like the emphasis we have here but were not the only state involved in this type of research. We really have to be more aggresive when trying to lure the big fishes.
  2. Great!!!!! More exsposure.....I was reading the front page on aol about Al Sharpton getting his roots traced it also mentions Columbia in the article
  3. I was reading the state and I thought this was a excellent ideal .A telephone survey to analyze the region

  9. Another company in Dayton,Ohio lost over 500 jobs as well. Their company also bid against Blue Cross and where over bidded out of there contracts by other companies. To make a long story short most of the jobs were relocated to Mass.
  10. WoW....No South Trust, Meridan, or Wilbur Smith Tower... Around that time Columbia's and Charlotte's skyline were similar....

Agreed, Thanks for the pictures. I ride down Huger St. everyday and see the cranes but I very seldom get to see the progress up close. Has anyone driven on Sunset Blvd in West Columbia and seen the density that part of downtown is getting. Its amazing!!! I would recommend it to anyone.
  12. This is good news. The old bus barn is definetly prime property and I hope the land is developed properly. Where actually is Lucius Rd. I've heard of the name but can't remeber the location?
  13. What a great map....It's shows the entire Columbia skyline. I can't wait for some of the projects to take off and the map is updated.
  14. This is great news. I didn't know we gained the most jobs last year. I would've always thought it would have been Charleston.
  15. Does anyone have any upadates or pictures of the medical park being constructed on sunset blvd across from Palmetto Richland?
  16. Google still might be a GO for the Columbia area. Google confirmed Friday it is evaluating land near Blythewood for a data center, and S.C. Commerce Secretary Joe Taylor said the company also is also close to building outside Charleston. Taylor said he has met with Google officials since March. In Blythewood, he said, permits to alter wetlands on the 466-acre site must be approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before any construction could begin. I really hope this goes through.
  17. Did anyone read the article on Mayor Bob Coble addressing the city. I think it was a good article. It talks about plans to keep the city
  18. Two more big-box retailers are joining Target at the new Lexington Pavilion. Columbia-based private real estate firm Edens & Avant announced late Tuesday that Best Buy and PetSmart will open stores at the retail center being constructed at 5119 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. I actually work on Sunset Blvd and this project is coming along quickly.... Lexington has really grown!!!!!! There throwing up things left and right out there
  19. More exposure for Columbia. Kinda off topic but US Airways will profile the Columbia area in its May edition of the on-board magazine it gives out to more than 5 million fliers per month. The article in US Airways Magazine is being prepared with the help of Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and the city of Columbia. So this should be nice. Anything to get our name out there. It's seems like more and more i'm starting to hear Columbia's name out there. The momentum is building............
  20. I agree.. I think Sumter should be taken unconsideration. Especially how close and how many people commute here every day.
  21. I agree the old court house should be moved. A nice size tower would fill in the gaps between bank of america and the meridian tower.
  22. I ran into someone this weekend from Greenville and they were telling me about the recent departure of headquarters leaving the Greenville area . For this situation it doesn't look like anything could have prevented Bowater from relocating.
  23. More good news!!! A regional government group is looking at ways to redevelop about 50 abandoned industrial sites in the Midlands as future commuter rail stations. The Central Midlands Council of Governments has identified 22 possible rail station sites that could serve three future commuter rail and high-speed transit lines: Columbia to Newberry, Columbia to Camden and Columbia to Batesburg-Leesville. Look as if there are very much on the ball for a commuter rail. Also what I found to be amazing . Its recent commuter rail study estimated a 43 percent population jump between 2000 and 2035
