That is wonderful news, but for all things holy in this world, can someone please purchase & develop this lot? Ha! Pretty bad pedestrian experience with a disjointed sidewalk and cars parking/exiting the makeshift lot as you see in the Google Earth screenshot.

A full store might be redundant with their dedicated space in Neimen Marcus, so probably just cosmetics

Do it, do it, do it! Mostly agree with this, but why does a park have to generate a return? Does Polk generate a return? Does Freedom? The cost will be substantial, but the "return" should be a state of the art public amenity that visitors and Charlotteans enjoy for generations. I think it'll almost single handedly rid Charlotte of its "You feel like you're inside of a bank lobby" quip thst we've endured for decades.

Dilworth Projects (Kenilworth, Morehead, East)

Grabbed this the other day headed eastward on Morehead. The building feels like it’s towering over the street and creates an illusion as if you’re driving right into it. -
Agreed! Same with Puerta. Some of the best food I've had in Charlotte and they have a vibey atmosphere and hosts live DJs.

Sort of leads to a question I've been thinking about - how much collaboration or synchronization is there between developers in South End (or Uptown for that matter) to purposely create a skyline aesthetic from certain angles in the city? For instance, it seems like towers in Uptown are situated so they look great coming down Wilkinson from the airport, or 77 south, or 277 north. Or is it just random and accidental?

Goodness it would be amazing if we could use them to kick off that Carson & Tryon tower by Crescent. I want that project to happen so bad.

Absolutely brutal. I'm assuming the grass is a placeholder until plans are finalized, with completion projected for Summer 2025, per the article above. But why so long? Is that normal for project this size? This is THE INTERSECTION in uptown, you'd think things would be accelerated a bit here.

Makes sense, and there's plenty of Scotch & Sode items in Nordstrom down the hall.

Looked out the window at the office and the tree line along Tryon caught my eye, as always. Also no evidence of the Intercontinental Hotel starting quite yet.

Taken at 4:45pm today - live music and vendors. Got engaged and begrudgingly moved out to the burbs, but the activation in Birkdale Village is unmatched.

HUGE! There are so, so, so many people in Charlotte who have been clamoring for a Zara for years. This helps not only Charlotteans' shopping experience, but people's perspective on Charlotte's " cool factor" ... can't tell you how many times I've had friends come visit me who said "geez, Charlotte doesn't have a Zara?"

Do ya'll talk to people like this in person? For this to be an urbanist forum, there's a lot of keyboard warriors who talk tough on here. Relax and use Google. It would've taken less time than it took to write out that post. -
Incredible! I thought the Aspen Heights property was 17 stories tho? Did they downsize?

Centre South is indeed taking forever to get started, but I combed thru Jason Thomas' comments on IG (can't remember the post), and he said a huge update on this project is imminent and plans are solidified.

Astonishing how that side of Truist tower cannot keep a restaurant there. I worked in Truist tower for 4 years and we didn't have lunch/dinner there once. Hopefully with the library, 7&Tryon construction, and Vela apartment tower it'll will create the requisite density to support future tenants.

Or Zara. And judging by the comments under Jason Thomas’ last post, the people are sooo ready for a Zara in Charlotte!

Whew, then it’s a pretty sad state of affairs in uptown, my friend. And I’m not as down on its design as others. We desperately need Lincoln Harris AND convention center hotel to happen.
