With the news that OUC is ending Coal production this decade, OBX through Downtown and over to Lake Nona/Storey Park could have potential. Wouldn’t take much to get up to Avalon Park either.
  2. OBX isn’t happening any time soon. Their feasibility study ruled that the no-built option was the best. Not even adding a bus service.
  3. In 2022 if there was a bus line from Miami to Key West that lined up with the train schedule would you take it? Or would you choose to drive?
  4. Brightline has the exclusive rights for passenger service on the FECR corridor. Whether Tri-Rail is involved in operating the service has yet to be decided, right now the discussions are about fixed infrastructure.
  5. I'd just like to see better street frontage on Amelia. A new building or green space would help activate the space for those crossing under I-4.
  6. Part of me wants to see them completely rebuild the downtown building given the redevelopment of CV. Or at least remove the surface parking lot and replace with some open green space in the interim.
  7. this rendering is backwards...right? I feel like it's backwards...
  8. great point! Does anyone know if the oval shape represents anything to do with the old arena?
  9. I was worried those were palms, can’t believe we still think long stretches of palm trees are better than streets lined with trees that provide shade
  10. a few of these are now up, would be nice if they included an opening date...
  11. @smileguy filled out the Survey, but I don't think I really captured my experience with the Milk District: I live in the North Quarter, so Ivanhoe and Downtown are reasonable jaunts for me. Thorton is a bit of a stretch but I can walk there. Getting to the Milk District from Orange just feels like a hike and I'd rather not drive unless I'm detouring from work. I feel like the BRT to UCF or a Lymmo extension or an off street scooter track would really make me more inclined to head over. The paver streets and colonial don't really present good walkable/bikeable connections.
  12. or a MoMA, Museum of Medicine and Art.
  13. Mine was the A-Team of Finland, an extremely tenuous Simpsons reference
  14. I really don’t get this project - it just looks so...wide
  15. yep, it's permanent. From the original condition it looks like an extra lane across the JYP bridge and an extra lane under the Turnpike. Originally I-4 was supposed to have a connector-distributor between Conroy and Turnpike, but this was removed when the direct connect ramp was added. The signage and pavement markings are a mix of the previous and intended iterations.
  16. Westbound I-4 had a couple of changes South of Downtown this weekend: - New OBT (SB) flyover exit opened , replacing the temporary traffic light. - Fourth lane also opened from OBT to Conroy meaning 83/South St to 75/Kirkman Rd has 4 continuous through lanes.
  17. always assumed Titusville was a sleepy coastal town, never considered the impact of the nearby industries.

I say go one step further and lump CFX in. Let's allow toll and transit dollars to be used on multi-modal solutions to combat congestion and increase mobility. I'd also like to see all Central Florida toll roads besides mainline I-4 and the Turnpike turned over to CFX.

I believe this would require legislative action from Tallahassee to modify the powers or create a new RTA. From a branding perspective I'm surprised we haven't used "Greater Orlando" as a GO acronym. Maybe it's too obvious.

This is such a painfully obvious choice for me. Common ticketing and marketing and all. Or better yet include MetroPlan and CFX and give us one regional transportation group. Give them power over bike/scooter rental companies, bike trails, etc.
  22. it’s the curse of being a civil engineer who works with road and rail. You notice these things...everywhere. Of course, now I’m zooming back in and out to make sure.
  23. Not a bad guess, although there’s a couple of clues that it’s not the right sign or place: the font is Highway Gothic, not Clearview, which means it’s likely a repurposed old sign. The sign also doesn’t line up with the lamps suspended below, meaning this isn’t likely the final one. the second sign has all the characteristics of a new permanent CFX sign
  24. Glad I’m not the only one that notices these things!
