  1. Oof I'd hate to live in those apartments that get that reflection.
  2. These are the best ideas I've ever heard from UP. Get the mayor on the horn.
  3. I'll take street level impact over skyline impact every single time.
  4. The air space may be nice but the tops of parking garages are probably the least interesting thing to look at from your mid-rise window. Ugly, even. The church there along Livingston, on the other hand, is one of my favorites downtown. I'd love for someone to see the potential of that garage space on the east side and develop it into some residential units. Maybe slightly shorter than Radius, as a step down to the single family homes .
  5. I love alcohol and firearms. Wonder if they're hiring.
  6. Novel Lucerne owners must be thrilled. I'm sure that was a huge selling point while they were open the first time.
  7. 3+ year old proposed renovation of 500 N. Orange
  8. I've been looking at condos downtown and there are a ton of them for sale at The Grande. Cheap, too. The only reason we haven't considered it is because they're kind of in the middle of nowhere (as far as downtown condos go). If they could get any sort of ground floor retail built next to them like a 711 or... just anything... the trade off for a 19 story shadow might be worth it. Might even get the DPAC apartment project off the ground.
  9. Yes please. Then, if they ever build a Rays stadium there, I'd be over the moon.
  10. All the big projects seem slightly less likely right now. If these two did get built, I'd imagine some retail might actually show up That was my understanding.
  11. If they really miss it they can just move across the street when their lease is up.
  12. I think it'd be great. Too bad the Apollos didn't work out... I had a great time at the game I went to. UCF stadium is a pain driving to, though. I'm sure they'd get their best attendance numbers at the Citrus Bowl.

I think it'll be good for the businesses around here. I'm all for it.
  14. "The name is inspired by the history of the neighborhood and is a nod to George Russell who moved to Florida in 1885 and made his living on the shore of Lake Ivanhoe selling pineapples." Another pineapple themed restaurant with pineapple logo to compete with The Pinery right across the street?
  15. I worded that poorly since of course at grade crossings don't affect wildlife, but non-elevated rail that goes through wildlife habitats isn't great for the movement of wildlife. Fenced off (as opposed to elevated) highways that go through wildlife habitats are harmful as well. Edit: I'll come back to this once sobered up.
  16. Wasn't the at-grade crossing was one of the big problems the city of Stuart had with Brightline? Couldn't be great for wildlife either.
  17. You're right! I was just looking it up to make sure and I was mistaken. Good question, then.
  18. Brightline tops out at just under 80mph and is considered "higher speed" whereas Azuma hits 125mph. Edit: Brightline hits 125 as well, once the Orlando leg is complete.
  19. "The zoning request for the proposed 24-story Monarch Tower at 322 E. Jackson St. was delayed at the request of the applicant." So is that something to be concerned about or is it normal for whatever reason?
  20. Carpeting just isn't as popular anymore either. I haven't owned a vacuum in years. I just take the rugs outside and beat the devil out of them, as Bob Ross would say.
  21. I agree OPL shouldn't be painted. I think it looks nice the way it is. I have seen some beautiful non-traditional brutalism trimmed with paint or stained wood that looks outstanding. I wouldn't be opposed to that.
  22. I'm probably in the minority but I'd like it if they left the concrete mostly exposed with maybe a little colorful paint here and there.
