  1. Orlando is not splashing in the kiddie pool. The leadership is neglecting the city center.
  2. It depends on your view. DTO, I assume, everyone thinks it depressed.
  3. Yet, Trump cannot get his down ballot nominees voted in and DeSatan has the charisma of a crying baby in a library.
  4. JAX seems to fit the bill fine as it’s where his shamelessness was conceived anyway. Dont wish him on Mississippi, especially when they are less extreme than Florida right now.
  5. Technically, Orlando is swimming in billion dollar projects also. None of which exist downtown.
  6. Actually, running his mouth on a national level has effectively reduced any chance he has at being taken seriously. I say encourage it.
  7. For the record, I never called you partisan or an ideologue — I don’t know you. I disagree with something you’ve put out for public consumption.
  8. This is bad, even for Orange County: There was consensus among the board to table further conversations relating to the Amway Center, Camping World Stadium, Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts projects, and Sports Incentive Fund until further information is gathered, and a work session is scheduled to discuss the future contract with Visit Orlando and how those dollars can be used. Additional information on approved projects: Orange County Convention Center ($560M, Bonded) UCF’s FBC Mortgage Stadium Tower ($90M over 10 years, from excess revenues) ARC ($75M over 5 years) Arts & Cultural Affairs (Approximately $69.4M over 5 years)
  9. Why not just post the link to the actual article instead of making someone go look for it? I did try, BTW, and it is not there. So yea, I stand by my statement. Even with what the article may discuss, you’ve attached your own extreme viewpoint to it and that is not factual. You don’t have to like it.
  10. You rarely state facts. All the more reason not to respond to such nonsensical jibberish. And before you feverishly start pushing keys on your typewriter, you weren’t the recipient of my post anyway despite your need to be heard and “state facts.”
  11. Where do you and that other poster get off stating that “liberals” didn’t want to pin a mass shooter at Pulse as a terrorist? That is absolutely not the case and a revisionist history to some warped Republican view of the world. The definition for “terrorist” in this country is deeply flawed but apparently some of you need to be reminded that those laws are antiquated and came about post 9-11. I guess you’re more comfortable when the mass shooting is just some white loser with a gun who shoots up a school? You know, the number one cause of death in this country by minors. Give.Me.A.Break. BTW, it is very difficult to prove a “hate crime” in USA. I don’t necessarily like it but I understand the law behind it. But that doesn’t fit neatly into the FOX or Newsmax narrative.
  12. Thanks - I do remember the old record building on the site and while nothing special, was at least not a blighted lot that it’s become over the years. Between this lot and the former 7-11 at Lake Eola turned parklet, it’s just too much unsightly blunder in highly visible locations. No amount of “art” is covering this up.
  13. I do enjoy the irony of the “Unbelievably Real” banner on the mural alongside the artificial turf.
  14. The city does own this lot, correct? Why not send out a RFP to solicit some interest. Given that they are more than willing to provide incentives for bringing businesses downtown I would think they would want to expand the tax base by infilling this property.
  15. I don’t understand why the city cannot encourage a small infill development on this lot. Something like this would be just fine: https://maps.app.goo.gl/xgDz8XLv31PJWY3F8
  16. The link to the study I shared is about homelessness, not immigration and sanctuary cities. Also, it was not a study about political affiliations. Did you even open it? Just sayin’ since you quoted it to share your interesting view on a federal border problem.
  17. Two-way street requests: Rosalind South Street North Quarter: Orange and Magnolia
  18. The turf is going to become a very attractive spot for our furry friends to do their business.
  19. I merely responded to the poster who said a burger has tripled as a result of increased wages. McDonalds burgers have always been bottom of the barrel quality and the price increases have been quite minimal over the last 4 decades I’ve been on the planet.
  20. There was a proposal for this lot pre-Cambria that shows what this would potentially look like as a mid rise. Unfortunately I cannot find it — perhaps someone else has it. It was also designed by the titular head of Orlando architecture and design, so we would have a pretty good idea how this will turn out . Like others have mentioned, at least Lincoln Properties is behind it and they have a decent track record in DTO.
  21. Dynetech comes in at about 360 feet so this would be just a bit smaller. Good infill that would finally patch up the street wall.
  22. Polls are notoriously flawed though. I don’t put much stock in polls saying just how unpopular Biden is right now even if most do have a concern with his age. None of these Republicans stand a chance in hell of winning against him right now. As for RFK, even his own family has categorically denounced his behavior.
  23. Last I checked, a burger was on the McDonald’s dollar menu. Your ability to eat cheaply isn’t currently impacted by giving a worker a fair wage.

Completely agree — the strength and charm of Central Florida lies in these small towns scattered about, with their history largely tied to manufacturing and agriculture. It’s what sets the area apart of the rest of the state. It’s really nice to see them getting the attention they deserve.
