  1. Nashvilles skyline might not be huge as of yet, but it sure is beautiful. I love the Westin in the foreground.
  2. Ticket sales are ticket sales. Away teams always have their share of tickets, it's been that way since the beginning. They're still getting way more support for crappy on field play than most cities would give.
  3. Tennesseans (most) have a lot of state pride. Hell, most people in Middle and East Tennessee didn't even know we had an NBA team until Memphis started popping up in the playoff picture. I guess sometimes I feel like Memphis tries to separate itself from the rest of the state. Also, if you're in Knoxille or Chattanooga wouldn't it be more convenient to be able to drive to Nashville? Throw in Northern Alabama and Southern Kentucky when it comes to our pro team fandom as well. My issue isn't with Memphis the city itself, it's the location of it tucked away in the very southwest corner of the state.
  4. Geographically and population it just makes more sense imo. Yes, I love Memphis's history and architecture as much as the next guy, but financially Nashville makes more sense. I'm a Grizzlies fan and I will say I was worried for a while because the support really wasn't where it needed to be until about 5 years ago when we started making playoff runs. Nashville is selling out Titans games when they're having their worst years in franchise history. Nashville wasn't a hockey town either and look at the support the Predators have gotten.
  5. I agree, I do believe Nashville will see an MLB team. I would also like to mention that Nashville SHOULD have gotten the Grizzlies instead of Memphis because it makes so much more sense. Population wise, Middle Tennessee is by far the most populated area in the state and people prefer Nashville over Memphis period by a long shot. They missed bad on that one.
  6. Being from Coffee County, I can definitely vouch for Rutledge Falls and Old Stone Fort State Park. More places in the Middle Tennessee area are Cumberland Caverns, Rock Island State Park, Fall Creek Falls Stare Park, etc. if you're wanting caves and waterfalls.
  7. Yes. Both towers will are supposed to be 400+ feet.
  8. There are some very lazy county/city governments in this state, especially with landscaping. You can go down most highways in Middle Tennessee and see tractors mowing the medians and the sides of the highways, but yet no weed eating takes place around signs, guard rails, etc.
  9. No kidding. It's not like Nashville is a big metro area just begging to get MUCH more infill.......
  10. We can only hope. That's how you maximize river potential.
  11. This would be awesome. The more green the city, the cleaner the air as we all know. Add to that an observation tower and we're set. I definitely wouldn't mind Nashville taking a page or 2 from Seattle, it's a beautiful city. Edit: tried to quote the post on the previous page about Seattle, but wouldn't show up.
  12. I respectfully disagree. I think people are getting more and more comfortable adjusting with big city living and with cranes everywhere that's not gonna change. Nobody in their right mind expected Nashville to stay a small city its entire existence, it's just taken a while and now it's getting the big boom that it's needed. Anybody that has a problem with height inside the inner loop, needs to seek professional help.
  13. Holy crap. This project, JW, Buckingham in the Gulch, Bridgestone, SoBro, The Westin, etc. It will be EPIC if everyone of those get built. Nashville is changing dramatically at a rapid rate.
  14. Cant wait for this thing to rise. This is by far my favorite project currently. This will be the building that defines the skyline when all is said and done imo. Maybe not in height, but the design is something that Nashville and even outsiders will be in awe over.
  15. Hope it's a triangular top kinda like Fountain Place in Dallas.
  16. It's just rare to find anybody that cares about how everything started. Progress has its ups and downs and in this case it's definitely a down. Even in smaller towns it's happened. For example, I was born and raised in Manchester which is about an hour down interstate 24 out of Nashville. You can drive around the town square and there's nothing but mainly lawyers offices and a pawn shop. There use to be a movie theatre and other things back in the day for people to do and now the heart of the town is just sad to look at. Its not quite the same as destroying a building, but it's close enough to consider it as much. I would love to see people out and about on the town square once again and enjoying themselves.
  17. Eh....it's not terrible by any means. Definitely not boring.
  18. What city is this in? That is just awesome looking and would definitely be best case scenario.
  19. Was just in this area yesterday at Centennial and the farmers market. I wanted to take some pics, but I had my three kids with me who are 9, 8 and 2. What a beautiful view looking toward downtown from that area.
  20. Beautiful shot. It's gonna be like walking straight in to a canyon of high rises from the pedestrian bridge in the near future. Looks very crowded already from that angle.
  21. Just another addition to the skyline is about all I can say about this project. Not that impressed at all.
