  1. I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to pay 4 figures yet alone 7 figures just for a sightline. He wasn't paid off, he just made a costly error.
  2. Better glass buildings that look new than the wall of window frame cladding buildings of the aforementioned three cities. They look old timey. As for your preference, the developers are going to build what they build. I'm glad they went with the glass look that even after 30 years will still look newly built (One Nashville Place and 1801 West End). I'll let you guys continue with petty jealousies of cities that don't look anywhere near as good as Nashville. Nashville has too many great looking pipeline, new, and old buildings for me to waste my time with jealousy of another place that is lacking.
  3. It's hard to see how he'll ever be able to sell that land for seven figures now at this current time. The type of building that would warrant that price probably won't fit into what's left of that area after Second Ave. Partners builds theirs. He probably made a mistake by not selling.
  4. Loool! At least they don't have the ugly window frame cladding of Miami, Austin TX, and Charlotte NC. Plus they're not beige like Charlotte, NC. The buildings in sobro plus One Nashville, AT & T, 505, and 1801 will always look brand new and modern because of their glass. You've got an S shaped building, a building with fins, an oval building, an octagonal building, a cylinder building, a building with antennas, and others. I have no clue what you are talking about with your gripes. If those buildings aren't up to the standards you want then I guess you'll have to build your own because obviously nothing anyone builds in this city satisfies you.
  5. Like Nashville does not and has not provided cash, tax breaks, and land to billionaires. Nashville would never give out almost 300 million and 10 acres of land worth millions for Mayja Leegue Sahcah.
  6. Dude this forum is mooney. If you want more clarification just replace the 'm' with an 'l'.
  7. I believe there are those who know the reason for the hyper visceral reaction to Memphis. Okay now lets drop all of this and get back to our time. The 1960s.
  8. Interesting to see some of the responses to your post. The hostile, venomous tone is particularly noticeable. Reminiscent of what white flighters or even segregationists would say.
  9. Miami and Austin buildings all look the same. A bunch of windows encased in unattractive frames. It's good that Nashville avoided that look with The Sobro and 505.
  10. If you can't tell the difference between One Nashville, AT & T, Pinnacle, Sobro, Bridgestone, JW Marriott then its bemusing. They all have distinctive shapes and features that differ from one another.
  11. Those people have the correct insight and intellect associated with living in the real world. Who cares if the elderly and others can't afford to live in Nashville and are becoming homeless. There are developments that must be cheered on. Ironically those same developments are caterwauled and bewailed about when rendered and\or built. Interesting how billionaires are to be catered to as long as they are developers.
  12. A handout to a billionaire so that he can profit at taxpayers expense. That is Obscene.
  13. They'll probably beetch. I mean when you complain about the JW Marriott and the convention center nothing is off limits. I call it the beta male 30 day cycle.
  14. I know. The Tennessee Titans however are more likely than not are going to want some form of subsidies and land giveaways as well. They've seen the gravy grab land giveaway the soccer team got. They see the same thing going on with other developers. It would be a revelation if they paid for their own stadium and adjacent land.
  15. What's interesting is I've seen numerous complaints about "sprawl" and lack of "density" because people choose to live in Brentwood and Cool Springs instead of the "urban core". Yet when people start living there they are to be ridiculed because they and their children don't want noise blaring at all hours of the night. This is erratic.
  16. It may or may not happen. Most likely there will be a referendum and a county wide vote when there is an attempt to build the Tennessee Titans a new stadium in about 7 to 15 years. The only way they can even remotely justify the multiple billions of dollars it will cost the taxpayers, is to put some mixed use development canard much like what is happening with the LA Rams\Chargers stadium complex. The land given to the Nashville soccer team owner is a lighter version of that.
  17. Out of the three types of towers (office, hospitality, and residential), it is the office type that appears to be the most difficult to get funding for. It would really be something to have 6 or more office towers under construction at the same time. Fifth and Broad Nashville Yards One KVB Endeaver The midtown tower The tower(s) on the former west end summit land.
  18. Maybe once you get beyond the spreadsheet scenarios, white papers, and best practice theories it is as simple as how does a person or persons feel about a place. They came to Nashville, they saw Nashville, they experienced Nashville, and the results were they liked Nashville much more than any other place. Obviously they were infatuated with downtown since they want to move into one of the office towers getting built. They want to be a part of what they saw. Which again is testimony as to how an attraction or feeling can steer a person or persons actions. They could have easily signed up for one of the suburban locations but they opted for a downtown location instead.
  19. Anyone with basic sense can see it coming. It's coming in the form of an L.A. Rams/Chargers stadium where there will be this( (Nashville Yards + River North) x 20) type of development. That is probably the reason why they did not want the soccer stadium next to the football stadium. They already have a preliminary plan for that area with regards to a new stadium for the football team. The latest they'll wait before asking for a new football stadium is 2035. It will probably be much sooner though.
  20. Amazon's charade is nothing but a gravy grab. It would be a good thing if they don't come.
  21. I don't know if it's Alliance Bernstein or not. I assumed the person I replied to thought Alliance Bernstein was headquartered in Los Angeles.
