  1. Is the McEwen Drive interchange in Franklin considered a DDI? If so, that might be a good example that more people would be personally familiar with.
  2. Wait... The Tennessee State Museum cost more than the J.W.?
  3. Snapped this on Demonbreun while passing the Gulch Union site a few weeks ago:
  4. Surprisingly, the crown is adding a nice amount of height to the structure! Here's your Cummins Station shot (at least, until @LA_TN Spider-Mans off the side of the building for a better one). Instead of trying to hide the dirty windows, I'm using them "artistically":
  5. ^ Ah, that's too bad, but good for them! I asked my now-wife to be my girlfriend while sitting at a table there. Then, some incredibly kind mystery couple paid for our meal! We just booked a table for next week so we can try it one last time.
  6. :Drives Dickerson: Yup, needs improvement. Next!
  7. ^ And to counter all the moping about the height of this one, I think it'll provide a pleasing step-down from the tallboys on the other side of the tracks so that transition doesn't feel quite so abrupt.
  8. Those new "permanent" bollards are turning out to be a little more fragile than anyone had hoped. I drove through there late last week and noticed that at least ten percent of them had already been backed into or otherwise abused and had substantial dents and deformation to show for it. /sigh
  9. I love the idea of this kick-starting River North as much as anyone (I live in the area, after all), but I think that area is going to be a hard sell for a single organization "campus"-style development. The primary reason I say this is because of TopGolf being right there at the gateway. As popular and successful as that place is, it still gives a bit of a carnival funhouse vibe to the whole development and to me seems like a shortsighted move by the developer. With so much prime space available around the city, I just don't think big organizations are going to go for it.
  10. ^ Oh, come on. That courtyard and cafeteria are serious (/s) gems in the downtown area and are worth any price.
  11. Come on, really? I presume your post is satire just the same, then. Surely you know already that you have no right to any of the public services you enjoy on a daily basis (law enforcement, fire safety, roads, etc.) except for the right to them you buy with the taxes you pay.
  12. I don't know the exact science behind this, but I believe it has to do with the "heat island" effect present in most cities. Rain occurs when water condenses out of the air when it encounters colder temperatures, so warmer temperatures within a city could certainly alter the otherwise expected forecast.
  13. Well, it's ugly, but a concrete foundation does not have to be straight in order to be structurally sound. I'm sure it'll be covered up in short order and we'll have a Meetup there to celebrate (to @Mr_Bond's chagrin).
  14. Makes me think maybe the West End district has some kind of restriction on enormous parking pedestals... Who'd have thought!
  15. Alas... I was really hoping those would fill from bottom to top like a spectrum analyzer. That would have been a really cool riff on the Music City vibe!
  16. Panorama from a few shots I took in mid-December, as seen from the Nissan stadium club level balcony: EDIT: Upped the resolution so you can keep zooming. Enjoy the detail!
  17. The park was absolutely trashed a year ago, too. They seem willing to make the sacrifice for such a big event and did a decent job of repairing the grass afterwards, so I expect this year will see extensive reseeding or resodding in the next few weeks.
  18. Coundn't pass up this sunset last week: This second one is a little fuzzy, but I'm including it anyway to show a glimpse of how the skyline is expanding:
