  1. Good guess! I think the crane must be there for some other purpose, though. I spent several years in live audio and event production and have seen that those structures have little motors built into them. The roof can actually climb itself up those vertical trusses and be raised and lowered as needed, without a crane or any other external assistance.
  2. The towers are built with a sort of visual tomfoolery such that they appear to extend back for a significant distance as a complete castle when viewed directly from the front, but that facade quickly disappears when you walk around a bit, leaving the towers to look rather lonely. I hope the new addition finally fills out the place a bit.
  3. I'd like to see that research, please. I mean, really. I'd love to believe that the elevator just keeps going up! But it gets as little harder to believe with every new project that gets underway.
  4. @markhollin, I think you've got some competition in the "photograph everything" business...!
  5. I'm gonna laugh if that mystery corner just ends up being a big open plaza. I don't think that's actually a likely outcome, but it seems oddly consistent with our "propose tall, build small" adage we've all learned to accept as the norm.
  6. When I was in Madrid a few years ago, there were shin-height bollards everywhere. These were the kind that weren't quite as shiny and pretty as Nashville's, but they also looked like they could stop a big rig dead in its tracks. I think we could learn a thing or two from cities that have been prioritizing pedestrians for centuries over our "appear pedestrian-friendly when it's convenient" attitude of late. If you doubt my words, take a look at the many bollards recently installed down Broadway that have already been beat to hell by the abundance of vehicular traffic backing into them.
  7. @e-dub, the Aerial on Broadway was an early Strategic Hospitality venture that has since been replaced by other more lucrative opportunities. No relation that I'm aware of.

  9. Just a reminder that this one can be seen on camera (with a side dish of Nash Yards!): https://app.oxblue.com/open/brasfieldgorrie/asurioncampus
  10. $5 says that FAKE rendering will end up copped for some breaking news piece from the rumor mill.
  11. Every time I'm in Cool Springs, I chuckle (in a sad, depressed sort of way) at all the finely manicured landscaping and abundance of sidewalks and walking trails that appear to be never used. It would be great to see them actually used someday, even if it's 50 years after they were built!
  12. To be fair, they don't design these things for the locals who see this stuff all the time. Back home, these city folk don't get much exposure to the barnwood redneck aesthetic, so I think the designers lay it on thick for the visitors' benefit.
  13. It'll be tough to renovate the old Jackson's building because, quite frankly, there's nothing left! (Click for a pic!)
  14. There are hostile, inflammatory trolls who stir up agitation and discord; and there are those who provide harmless comic relief. @FromParkAveToTN is the latter. If you're tired of seeing someone's posts, this forum allows you to "ignore" them and hide all of their posts. It is disingenuous of our community to be so welcoming to new members, but in almost the same breath, openly attack other (longstanding) members just because we don't like their particular style of contributions.
