  1. You people would complain if Empire State building was built here This is a brick building. Like the HCA building next door. Like the proposed Capital View development. Why would anyone wish for a company to move out of Davidson County? Personally, if I had to choose a company to stay and one to go; I would keep LifeWay and get rid of the Worlds Largest Adult Book Store. Or maybe I am the only one that thinks their building is ugly
  2. Ouch. Point taken. So why is this happening? City codes? (Lack of) competition? Cost points? Yours truly, Puzzled
  3. With all due respect, what do expect from an out of town developer? Endeavor is not here to build us a stunning piece of architecture; they are here to make a buck
  4. Put me on the "happy with the design" list. It looks nice! Good height! Impressed, because I didn't have high hopes for this before! And it will be a great location for a Whole Paycheck (Foods)
  5. I don't know the exact details, so if someone here does, please chime in ... Here is a crude drawing: While not proportioned correctly, this is the general concept. The majority of the parking is in the area shaded purple. What I don't know is how much, if any, parking will be below the convention (blue) section. I would assume there will be no parking below the tower (red) section. Based on the following photo: it is easy to see that there be at least 2 levels of below grade parking (after the old floor is ripped out. Maybe they will prep the entire site and go down about 12-15 allowing 2 levels below ground for both projects. That is what I would expect
  6. This rendering should help clarify. The green park will be the Crescent tower. The JW Marriott parking will be along Clark, but the 8th Ave side will be activated (but I don't recall the details, sorry) Isn't it ironic that JW Marriott choose to place their parking at the Westin entrance; and, now, the Crescent tower parking will overshadow the JW Marriott entry and amenities levels? It's somewhat disappointing that the approved design for the JW Marriott seemingly wastes a lot of space
  7. Agreed. And one day is only 25-30k, which is nowhere near 100k. But ... 2 additional points to remember is 1) there was apparently a huge convention in February (and another one and few weeks ago) and 2) ALL USA airports are currently experiencing significant increases (not as much as BNA, but similar growth) BNA still needs another 3m+ yearly passengers to attract serious attention from international markets. If BNA could just get over the hump, the growth would feed itself by attracting more flights and destinations. But ... BNA severely lacks facilities to accommodate the big boy planes (A-380, 747, 767, etc) - no dedicated international terminal, no transit, no on-site hotel, and no baggage claim (seriously lacking in this area). BNA has runways and gates, etc, but apparently lacks management capable of taking BNA to the next level
  8. Okay, yeah, slaughtered is bit extreme and the 20.6% should be considered skewed (which it is). However, using a quick correction of 5.5% growth for the Feb 2015 number produces a 9.2% growth, which is in line with the rest of the numbers for FY2016 February ---- ------ ----- -------- --- Year Total % chg Adjusted Adj ---- ------ ----- -------- --- 2011 623697 5.1 2012 683551 9.6 2013 689245 0.8 2014 728600 5.7 2015 693479 - 4.8 768673 5.5% 2016 836046 20.6 9.2% Conclusion, BNA is growing!
  9. **Remember, that "slaughter" of last year's numbers is because the airport had over 95% of all flights cancelled one day due to the ice/snow storm Feb. 16. That one event skewed all numbers for the month and year
  10. Ughh, not trying to step on toes, sorry. The photo I posted was taken Saturday, so it is two days older. But that is a photo of the Crescent portion of the site that is on the corner of Demonbreun and 9th while your 2 pics are from the corner of Demonbreun and 8th, which is where the JW Marriott tower will be constructed
  11. Crescent will only have 1/4 of the site and the JW Marriott will sit on 1/4 of the site; both along Demonbreun The parking for the JW Marriott will be the 1/2 of the site that fronts Clark Pl. Because the Crescent portion is so small, the parking must be placed below the tower; whereas the JW Marriott parking will be beside the tower
  12. Limestone? So far, the only thing being cracked is the old basement floor. There will be minimal excavation for both the JW Marriott and the Crescent Demonbreun site. Here is a photo of the Crescent portion of the site from Saturday, April 16 taken from Demonbreun near the corner with 9th
  13. Interesting article that mentions a possible new transatlantic flight for our friends to the west! That would be a great win for our state! Norwegian Air eyes more Boeing Dreamliners for new transatlantic flights Excerpt: "The airline is eyeing direct transatlantic routes from U.S. cities that do not currently have them, such as Memphis and New Orleans, Kjos said." Hopefully, they can get that and it will help demonstrate the need for a similar flight from BNA
  14. That's the point. There really should be a major "wow" factor when driving up to the circle. Guess what? There is NO wow factor driving up to this at night. The whole LED lighting on the tips of poles, etc. appears to be just a scam. If each pole had individual lighting, it would be "WOW!!!" when driving up to it at night. But it is partially lit with only a few floodlights Taxpayers should be outraged with the final product delivered because it is NOT the design that was paid for. This is called "bait and switch". Congrats to the artist, he will pocket a handsome profit
  15. The 440 parkway was originally designed to be 8 lanes; of course, the current 4-lane design is compliments of the NIMBYs. The concrete roadway, now 30 years old, has far exceeded its designed lifespan of 20 years. The roadway will be replaced when money becomes available, but expansion is not likely. As for concrete vs asphalt, obviously concrete is a more durable product that requires less maintenance and lasts much, much longer than asphalt but is more expensive to build. Normal total lifespan costs are lower with concrete
  16. The main reason most area roads are in such bad repair, currently, is the result of the devastating rain/freeze/snow event from last year. It will take several years to erase that damage
  17. No, the lighting is horrific. No excuse for this The lighting looks like it was designed and installed by an unemployed plumber from Bell Buckle
  18. I disagree. People want the tall towers to go downtown - not in midtown (think Noshville deli). People will not complain about 90 stories on KVB. Just keep it inside the loop
