  1. The Nissan Stadium is definitely bottom 5 in the NFL. The stadium has a poor design with almost 2/3 of the seats are located in the upper deck - this creates a lot of cheap seats and a shortage of high price seats. St. Louis is trying to fund and build a $1+ billion new stadium to prevent the Rams from moving to LA because the current dome does not meet the contractual obligations set when the Rams originally moved to St. Louis Go to Soldier Field in Chicago or Dallas or Seattle or, even Indy, and you will very quickly realize just how bad Nissan Stadium is. The Kansas City Chiefs just finished a major renovation to Arrowhead Stadium that made it one of the best NFL stadiums, again; but Arrowhead Stadium already had a good design whereas Nissan Stadium needs truckload of dynamite. But ....... if Nashville builds a new stadium for the Titans, make it a dome. A dome will compliment many of the current efforts to move Nashville forward. Retractable roof would be great.
  2. I would think so too, but there is only one crane base installed, and it is in the exact center of the site
  3. And the rock and no landscaping and no lighting and no design patterns and ...
  4. The northern half of 840 is permanently dead due to cost and environmental concerns. The decision was made, a few years ago, that it would be much cheaper to make extensive upgrades to SR 109 from I-40 through Gallatin to Portland. That is why the new Cumberland river bridge was built
  5. I heard last year that there were about 90 or 190 tickets given out to drivers in the HOV lanes. If police pulls over a car to give it a ticket, that would slow down traffic; thus enforcement = more traffic congestion. Another issue with enforcement is identifying hybrids/electric cars, which are also allowed in the HOV lanes. The federal money used to widen the interstates required the HOV designation. Enforcement is not required
  6. the new location of Bolton's Paramount747, the opposite of what you posted. The original Bolton's (fronting Main St) is used for catering/etc and the old Taste of Italy Building is the new location - has much more seating than the original building. I have ate there 4-5x in the new building and can happily report the food is as great as always!
  7. let's be realistic. It should take a year to get the drawings, financing, materials, planning ... But hoping excavation starts by Q4 2016
  8. Actually, the blue tarp was removed last week, on Thursday. Looks like the construction site has been cleared and ready
  9. Someone will have to help an old man with limited memory .... If I recall correctly, the MCC/Nashville wants one of the political conventions. I think, the Republican convention is not possible due to a scheduling conflict. And I can't remember if this is for 2016 or 2020. Anyway, yes, Nashville is trying for a political convention. The SI swimsuit, NRA, and NHL All Stars are big events. But the lack of a domed stadium limits Nashville from bigger events
  10. This is why I am sharing my firsthand experience here, so that you (and others here) will not go into a rampage about rich crybabies whining, etc. Again, in this particular instance, it would be beneficial if the members of this forum SUPPORT their complaint. I would never want to live in a location where I would not enjoy it 30 nights a year - that is crazy. Home should be home - 365 days a year. Sometimes there IS a valid reason to complain ..............
  11. Would you be proud to have people from other cities read your comments? That is what triggered my response. I am proud of Nashville and always want to promote Nashville. I hate so much of the negativity on this forum. Discussion good, whining bad, ridicule is not acceptable As for the intent of complaining, I have been downtown during 4 concerts. Again, BnaBreaker may be a sound level expert, but there was no excuse for the Janet Jackson concert being so loud. If you were not there, then please do not pass judgment. If you live in Chicago, you probably enjoyed the concert from your patio. Think of this way, if the sound is so loud that people no longer wish to live on Rolling Mill hill, what will happen? People will move away and property values will drop ... I live on a rather large farm, so living downtown is not an option; but I will always be intrigued by it. Like you, I would enjoy to live in one of those hot spots, especially with all the amenities. Like you, I get "pissed off" when people complain about noise or my view blocked by your new tower, etc. My purpose for sharing my experiences here on this forum regarding the noise complaints, is just that. I wanted to share my experience with everyone here so that each person here knows that I agree with the noise complaints from the Ascend amphitheater. Under this particular circumstance, I believe they SHOULD be complaining! Don't call me a whiner if you live in Chicago. Sometimes change is good - and in this instance, the noise was really too loud and should be lowered. The concert Friday night had a noise level that should be VERY acceptable to the people on Rolling Mill hill, we'll see ............. I agree 100% with the complaints about Ascend amphitheater, but I disagree about noise complaints from Nissan stadium
  12. We have this forum so we can have discussions about the urban environment. We do should not come here to call people a "joke" and ridicule them. The number one thing I hate about this site is, several members here have little or no respect for anyone who do not share their views 100%
  13. ^^ Very well said, sir! The state museums in Raleigh are role model for all other states to dream about
  14. Yeah, don't expect this to break ground until March/Q2
  15. I wish the Gulch pedestrian bridge would have inspired a unique design, instead of a post bridge like 4,386 other cities have .... Example: **I don't mean to rant, but saw this recently and was amazed! I love the design and think a larger version of this going over the Gulch railroad would be most inspiring
  16. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/09/austin-developer-buys-more-prime-broadway-land.html "This site is a gateway into and out of downtown. We liked the visibility and access ... and we think this site will have some spectacular views in all directions," wrote Jamil Alam, a managing principal of Endeavor, in an email last month. The best news I read all day .....
  17. Tolls on roads will ALWAYS lower the standard of living and quality of life for low-income families who cannot afford the tolls
  18. Ad that popped up while reading Nashville Business Journal today. The link went to Giarrantana Development, but unfortunately, that website has not been updated in a long, long, long, long, long time .... **Not exactly HD quality. I tried to find the ad again (in hopes of getting a better quality pic), but no luck, sorry Looks like Nashville is made of gold !!!!!!
  19. Just wanted to point out some facts, if you wish to discuss ... Square feet: 20,909 = 0.48 acres .... the "Sliver" lot 18,643 = 505 CST While I have not heard the exact size of the "Sliver" lot, it is safe to say that it is 2,000+ square feet larger than Tony's lot on Church Street. And one of these buildings has a better design .....
