  1. I literally just came on to post this. This will take months to fix.
  2. we once had a tower that stuck out quite a bit over the rest of the city like OKC landc alone by willfry, on Flickr
  3. random, but this image reminded me. does anyone have the rendering from when they wanted to make I 24 on the east side into an "urban boulevard" ?
  4. I love that building. it was designed to be very tall. but was never completed. i believe the modern addition is actually shorter that the original designed height.
  5. voted YES after work. Green Hills Library. Ironically people were having to park all over the street because so many people arrived, 1 person per car. if only something could help alleviate that. but more seriously, it was very crowded, it took almost an hour. I'm more optimistic today. I had 2 friends who I thought were no votes tell me they voted yes. and I had an undecided friend call me on her way to vote to have me explain it to her again. I had to break down the taxes into actual $ figures. and said that even if she wont use it, wouldnt it be nice if fewer cars were added to her route to work. she voted yes.
  6. As expected, they are going all in with scare tactics. I don't even know where to begin with this one.
  7. me every day, but i do try to click on profiles before i comment back. mostly though to find out if they actually live here. Id say less than 50% of negative comments are from people within Davidson county. My go to response to the not profitable argument is "please show me the profit that is produced by I 65, or 12th avenue, or the public library, or public schools, or the police and fire department." no one every has an answer for that. Uber and Lyft are actually very expensive. we fell like they are cheap, because they are cheaper than taxis. also, both of them plan to raise prices once traditional taxi companies are out of business. as it is they are both hemorrhaging money. I live on 8th ave and to get to a preds game non surge pricing, it is about $9 before tip. (always tip your driver, they make crap wages) but last night I wanted to go to Von Elrods, next to the Sounds Stadium (I Highly Recommend) the quoted price was $34. yes, I could have waited half an hour or more for a bus, but i drove instead, spent no money on alcohol, and only had dinner and went back home, instead of going out with friends afterwards. If we had a robust transit system, I would have spent more money last night, and therefore paid more taxes.
  8. but, if we are all starting to feel better, that means no taxfortrax is seeing it too. no telling what new bombshell they will pull out of their hat in desperation.
  9. wow, I cant believe I didn't think about an international market. I'm not far from Nolensville rd. I'll go there tomorrow. in the past I had no trouble at kroger or publix.
  10. I actually am more optimistic tonight than I was this morning. Trigger warning I'm going to use the phrase "those people" I went on a quest this evening to find a frozen duck to make for dinner this week. (more on that later) I ended up driving from the Green Hills Kroger to the Belle Meade Kroger. there were way more pro transit signs that I passed than anti. if those people will support it, we can get anyone to vote for it. side note, anyone know where I can get a whole duck? frozen preferable since that should be cheaper. I went to 7 stores with no luck.
  11. The following bars on Broadway have huge no tax for Trax signs on them. (I've only walked btwn 3rd and 5th). Mellow Mushroom, the stage, and honky-tonk central. While they are well within their rights to display these signs. I am also well within my rights to no longer visit those establishments or recommend them to people from out of town.
  12. channel 5 just had a story. Voter turnout is extremely high. I didn't catch the exact numbers but thousands more than a normal primary. ive had the same experience. in fact i have gone back and forth with Lance Bloom several times. just saw a new ad, "vote for truth, vote for transit" basically pointing out the recent false claims by opponents.
  13. I finally got around to reading the Improve act. I found this line most interesting. Also, any surcharge on the local option sales and use tax will apply only to the first $1,600 on the sale or use of any single article of personal property. So, if i read this correctly, the sales tax would not apply to large purchases. this should be shared everywhere!
  14. Andy Holt. He is also the one that keeps bringing up the bathroom bill. Here is the thing that people in dry counties or that don't drink don't seem to understand. No one is forcing you to go buy alcohol on any day. No one is forcing your dry county to be wet. But why do you insist on. Stoping me from buying something that I am of legal age to? No one is forcing a liquor store to open on Sunday or a grocery store to sell wine on Sunday. They can still choose not to. But give them the option so they can make their own business decisions. And me the option to make adult decisions.
  15. I just read this out to my girlfriend and point by point broke down where it is misleading or outright lying, or the one point with 100% facts used in a way that is 100% misleading.
  16. I'll wait a couple more months before I "like" this. if all goes well, we still have 20+ games to play.
  17. because, if im not mistaken, the guy building it is the same one that seems to thing building a tunnel under 5th will ruin his broadway business by tearing up the street for years on end.
  18. I spoke to a friend today, whom I took for granted as a yes vote, told me that she is leaning no. her neighbor told her that because they live next to charlotte pike(sylvan heights), that their property taxes will increase. And that her parent's (west end) will not. when I told her it is a sales tax and not a property tax, she looked at me like I had 3 heads. On the upside, she asked me to come to her house and explain this to her and her neighbors. so I'm contacting transit for Nashville monday to get as much proper documentation as I can to do this.
  19. every time I hear or see the word "boondogle" my head nearly explodes also, I just had a half hour text debate with a friend who kept going back to widening or adding to the interstates. would it be possible in the next 30 days to get TDOT to make a statement about this?
