When the arena was built, we tried to lure an existing NBA and NHL team, We ended up with an Expansion NHL team, which was a very long shot at the time, and an existing NFL team. anything can happen. I wouldn't count us out. But at the same time. you never know, some MLB owner might take notice and speed up their move.

Actually, all you have to do is say that you are going for "education" and hire a personal guide while there. you have to declare the reason for your visit to the State Dept. but it is basically on the honor system now. you do have to keep a log book of what you do for a while in case they audit you. but basically, you can do anything but sit on a beach. Ive looked into going this year.

A couple years ago I overlaid that over our current street grid. Here it is for those of you new since then or that have forgotten. trolleys1913all by willfry, on Flickr -

google maps satellite view is out dated. it gives the clearest picture. google earth on mobile devices uses the same as maps. if you download google earth for desktop, you can look at many views of the same site over time. the most recent view of downtown is mid october 2016, the oldest is unfortunately 1992. some places though, susch as Berlin Germany, you can see 1945, bomb craters and trenches. -
Correct, I was in high school, I remember spending most of the day in the hallway because of the tornadoes. I did venture that way some, I went to hard rock, nascar and Planet hollywood, and a few kats games. But always with my parents so no bars. Though by that point I was playing pool at melrose. And in 1998, I got my first ever traffic ticket. Blocking the intersection at 2nd and broadway. while driving to riverstages with some friends. Ill never forget that. cop said I should have known better than to try to get through the light. Never mind that my drivers licence that he was holding was only a little over a month old. I should have known from experience.

at 24:01, I have no memory of those buildings that were apparently where Rippy's is now. I thought it was on old building. to which I say, good job blending in.

Google is moving forward. at launch about 5 apartment/ condos had it installed. the number is now over 10. I check it regularly because it may be a deciding factor if i move soon.

Well, remember one of our very own owns the property on that nub. and he has said at a meet that the city cant remove the street because his site must have access.

Ok Guys, Here is a very crude idea of an urban Soccer stadium. Nashville-FC by willfry, on Flickr I used the Columbus stadium for reference and size. this is the Tobacco site on Rosa Parks. I have it set closer to 10th than 8th, It is labeled but just to be clear. Retain the awesome brick buildings along Harrison St. include mixed use retail/ appartments or condos surrounding the stadium. create a sports district that could also serve the Sounds stadium. The buildings would be 1st floor retail (bars, restaurants, maybe one gift shop, and whatever else) with 2 to 4 floors of residential on top. Parking for games could be spread between the state lots a block away, and extra space built into the garages for the new mixed use buildings.

Never realized that Paradise Park had reused an old sign, that is cool. Also the strange design of the building seems to predate new broadway as well. also notice the freidman sign on the left, the building looks like it is about to fall down, but now is still there. braodwayppark by willfry, on Flickr -
