    The West End

Looks like West End Coffee could be opening up a coffee shop in the space that used to be Road Waves Fitness down from the stadium. Adjacent to the new M West development.
  2. I saw survey stakes at Arthur State Bank on Augusta Rd. Any ideas? Also, I heard that the Fire Station on Augusta Rd / Faris will also be closing, but I don't remember hearing anything about a new station being built or budgeted for....
  3. I agree that Spartanburg design can't just be dropped into the Camperdown mix, but honestly, what are these buildings going to look like 10 years from now? I usually don't post this type of frustration and keep to myself on here, but it's frustrating to see only 1 out of every 10 projects go with the classical timeless look. I'm not an architect and do not know a lot about it, but there just seems to be certain materials and design that will stay in style and I haven't seen a lot of them recently proposed. Not to be the guy that posts negative and doesn't offer a solution, any ideas on whom to voice their concern to within the city? Is it DRB? Local councilman/ councilwoman?
  4. I didn't realize how much I dislike the Greenville AC Marriot design until I saw the Spartanburg design. I take it the two hotels fall under different franchises / mngt?????
  5. does anyone know if something is going to happen to the strip mall containing Moe's, Verizon, and the dry cleaners at the intersection of Faris and Augusta Rd.? There is a voluntary cleanup sign posted on the corner.
  6. E&Y is currently at Beattie Place and occupying more than one floor.
  7. Starbucks will be inside the grocery store. There will also be a second floor wine bar area. On the side of the grocery store, there is going to be a small green space.
  8. Harris Teeter for Lewis Plaza. A unique "super flagship" variety which has several additional amenities. Dollar General will come down and a new Wells Fargo will go there. The building with Fleet Feet and Mcalisters will stay. Overall timeline is 2016 for opening.
  9. Community meeting Monday concerning Lewis Plaza redevelopment. I wish I had more info, but I'll try to attend.
  10. I saw that too, but I'm thinking it's going to be more adult oriented.
  11. I agree. Whatever this turns into, it will be the backdrop in a lot of photos taken of the falls. I'm excited to see what will be proposed.
  12. There is a sign in front of Firehouse Subs that says they have moved to Haywood rd. It's next to Mens Warehouse. The Augusta rd location is now vacant.
  13. Has anyone seen renderings of what will go between S-W paints and the nail place on Augusta rd / Faris rd? I know there is a new parking lot being proposed back there, but was unsure of the retail space.
  14. This is moving forward. City is putting a lot of focus on this at the moment.
  15. Flew out of GSP this AM. The materials and escalators look very nice. The stone / tile selection will look great when it's done.
  16. A massive traffic circle with some monuments or large artwork in the middle. The difficulty in getting pedestrians in that location is a killer.
  17. Do we know a brand? Do we know what happens to Lewis Plaza itself?
  18. Is the CVS a mixed use building or only a CVS? The town homes at the old YWCA site is a nice addition. Hopefully, they will look good on the exterior.
  19. As much as I wanna see that site developed, I'd hate to be the last complex in line to opens it's doors. Just out of curiosity, would a convention center on this site make sense?
  20. It would be nice to get them in the Arts District. I agree, they need to use The Orange Peel as a benchmark for shows and venue setup.
  21. Does anybody know where they will go? Hopefully they stay within the city.
  22. Thanks for all the data! That's a lot of people in the downtown area. Hopefully, we will see some apartments or condos creep over that 4-6 floor hump in the next 5 years.
  23. I wasn't sure where to post this, so this seemed as good a place as any. Can anyone list out apartments in the downtown area either under construction or proposed, including # of units? Just curious to see how many people these developments bring downtown.
  24. Is there enough room for the county offices and a convention center? With the Scott Tower replacement and South Ridge, this would be prime property. What else could go there? I really hope the county offices consolidate into a more compact footprint.
  25. I saw a sign in the window for a House of Jerky for Main and McBee.
