  1. This is awesome. I love especially how urban the rendering of the hotel is. Looks like something out of NYC.
  2. It seems a bit sudden imo for everything to be going sour. This press release from the airport is dated January 19th which is not even a month old announcing new and longer routes.
  3. Great to have you, minescraft56!

Great pics! They also reflect just how many more lots that need a building. I love to fly myself. Always gotta have a window seat.
  5. Native resident expanded his pizza shops opening one in Town Center. https://www.pilotonline.com/inside-business/vp-ib-bennys-pizza-0124-20220118-aujcnh3dk5c4zofb2veahlp5q4-story.html
  6. I had a few minutes and walked through the mall tonight. It was so sad (bittersweet really) to see all the closed stores and the place was pretty much a ghost town. This small mall and I have quite a lengthy history. Here’s looking forward to a new era.
  7. Quite a few years ago there was an article in the Pilot about this area becoming the next Greenbrier- even larger. I wonder if this is still in the city's long range plans?
  8. Virginia Business article states it will be 14 stories. “The hotel will be 14 stories, and Smith said they are trying to fast track it, adding that construction could start as soon as the middle of next year.”
  9. I’m pretty happy that such a unique hotel (and tall, I might add) will be going up. It will be refreshing imo to see different architecture and builders have a go at it. At 14 stories, it’ll definitely have a presence. Also, since the renovation will add green space for events this will give the center a more cohesive and inclusive feel.
  10. Still hoping one day this will become a reality.
  11. Exactly my thoughts. AH overall has been a driving force in developing TC but it’s taken so many years. Without looking back, I believe it was 1999 or 2000 that TC began construction . It’s great that Pembroke Mall is stepping up and giving some competition to TC. And rest assure that AH is paying attention to what’s going on across the street. Perhaps this news will spur them to action.
  12. Armada Hoffler reports it’s retail properties are bouncing back from the pandemic. Also, several new retailers (unnamed) will be opening at Town Center. https://www.pilotonline.com/business/consumer/dp-nw-fz21-armada-20211226-y7e5n4tusngdbks6gz2fjxqkku-story.html
  13. I'm glad to see the Nike store is indeed coming.
  14. A 14 story hotel at the former Suntrust bank will make a huge change to the center. And I can’t wait to see the apartments and senior center going up too. Hoping too for that potential high rise.
  15. That’s one of the saddest photos I’ve seen of downtown. It’s unimaginable really…
  16. There was a sign that read Nike Virginia Beach with a picture of the VB inspired shoe. Driving by I could see light fixtures and other things going in. Next time I should physically check it out.
  17. We'll just rode by today. It appears Nike has pulled out. All signage is now gone.
  18. I believe Chesapeake is looking into expanding the Tide into Greenbrier. In my mind it seems odds are against it - however if it ever came to fruition and was successful I could possibly...imagine VA Beach reassessing the need for the Tide.
  19. HRT is having meetings to discuss BRT and light rail expansion. https://www.wtkr.com/news/hrt-hosting-public-meetings-to-discuss-proposed-tide-expansion-to-military-circle-bus-rapid-transit-to-naval-station
  20. Metronet will soon begin laying fiber giving Norfolk residents another choice for internet other than Cox. https://www.pilotonline.com/business/consumer/vp-nw-metronet-internet-norfolk-20210930-xe45qj22krbdfdwi6gywk5tq4e-story.html
  21. Main and Town Center Drive. I can’t recall what was here before.. When in doubt try Google maps - formerly Maternity Destination- at some point.
  22. I noticed Nike Virginia Beach will be opening in Town Center. Perhaps due to the recent sell out of our themed shoes. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/virginia-beach/virginia-beach-themed-nike-shoes-sold-out-after-selling-for-899-per-pair/
  23. The “studies “ are just another sign of timidity that affects this region. It’s why we will probably never rise even close to our full potential. /off my soapbox
