What??? The new Midtown tunnel section with light rail would not cost any lanes of traffic. The tunnel parts will have one tube of 2 lane traffic and a 2 lane multimodal tube next to it. So, paired with the existing midtown tunnel, there would be 2 lanes of traffic going west, 2 going east, and 2 rails for light rail.

I can only do it on the weekend. Parkings ok.

Im up for it, we should start talking about in the meetup thread. Where would we meet?

Don't forget Norfolk also needs to start thinking about LR lines running to the airport and the naval base (preferably in one big loop), those are two important locations.

Can someone get pictures of the construction going on on the east side of the line past NSU? I havent been able to get over there and it would be great to see some of the tracks that have already been put in. Also how is the bridge construction going? Are thy removing hte pilings that were there?

I still don't understand it, why did it fall apart? Was this planned befoore Town Center?

This is what town center will look like shortly, and it will keep expanding outwards. The VABeach Light Rail will cross right through town center. I think towncenter will evolve into a downtown. Keep in mind that town center is less that 10 miles from downtown Norfolk and you can see Norfolks skyline pretty well from the westin tower. nice pics, the first expansion will be the va beach line, from newtown to towne center to the oceanfront

Portsmouth is considering building a new tunnel or adding another tube to the midtown tunnel and making the new tube mutlimodal so it can continue the light rail network on their side. I read this somewhere but i cannot remember where. It probably won't happnen for a while now though.. It would be great.

He means the new stimulus package giving us money right?
