  1. Habit Burger opening 02/14. https://www.qsrmagazine.com/news/the-habit-burger-grill-launches-sixth-south-carolina-based-store/
  2. This looks amazing. Incredible what they’ve done with the space. https://www.facebook.com/100077653626836/posts/pfbid0ss7o4ur1KJ9LoNQeL4CbBMmBhCYkt9AdsKmpPH3ahSApwGkyo7RLBx7jJsXYcvcnl/
  3. Shipley Do-Nuts on Reidville Rd. opening on Monday, October 16th.
  4. Interested to see how parking and traffic are going to be handled. Very excited about this project, huge impact on Morgan Square and surrounding businesses.
  5. Biscuitville construction underway in Duncan.
  6. Not the city, but Zaxby’s is coming to the intersection of 29 and 85. Will be located across the street from 7-11. That will put Zaxby’s at exits 66, 63, one scheduled for exit 60, and one on South Batesville Rd. Seems like overkill?
  7. Baskin-Robbins coming to 249 E Blackstock Rd, pending conditional use rezoning approval. Also, site work has started next to Little Caesar’s on Reidville Rd. (future Shipley’s Donuts). And it looks like Crumbl Cookies on Blackstock is close to opening.
  8. Site work has started for The Habit in the Barnes and Noble parking lot. The picture below does not illustrate the scope of the fenced off area. The depth is correct, but the width should be doubled. Significant impact to the B&N parking area.
  9. Blue Moon Bodega aiming for a late summer/early fall opening. https://chambervu.com/theonesummer22/?fbclid=IwAR3XzLOxMX05dIVUHHfPdlF6SBpRrEEY3GUT9iooRMpVrNUsqqNoMimfjto#p=28
  10. According to a poster of a Facebook group that I’m in: - Whataburger to the old Walgreens on WO Ezell - Whataburger to the old Ruby Tuesday on East Main - Free standing Whataburgers in Boiling Springs and Duncan - A new donut shop will be built next to Little Caesar’s on Reidville Rd. No idea on his credibility, but he is a real estate agent.
  11. Speaking of….. https://atlanticretail.com/buildout-listings/?propertyId=764300-lease&fbclid=IwAR3jVUAKi5SxSOXbJYy-Wz9kq00ssvVRK5zEgJMgXrhWT6eoEiStZRuC2-w
  12. Per Tim Brayden Sherman yet again: “The Habit Burger Grill will be opening it's first Upstate SC location in Spartanburg, according to construction bid records. The restaurant will be opening at 1409 W. O. Ezell Blvd, in the parking lot of Barnes and Noble/Guitar Center. The construction bid listed the estimated start date for construction as Feb. 2022, which has possibly been delayed.” Hard for me to conceptualize how parking and traffic flow is going to not be a problem, unless Barnes and Noble is moving sometime soon. I believe the building is coming up on 30 years old?
  13. Per Tim Brayden Sherman: Crumbl Cookies coming to 117 E Blackstock Rd. (between Massage Envy and Verizon across from Lowe's). Also (per me), the construction on the Wendy’s next to QT at 101 and 85 is coming along nicely, maybe about 6 weeks from opening. There’s a sign up for Zaxby’s coming soon about 1/4 mile down the road (surprising, as they already have a location about 3 miles away on 290). I work at an office park between both, and it will be nice to have some new options. It’s been pretty slim pickings over there for a long time.
  14. Per Facebook: Crumbl Cookies, Popeyes, and Starbucks going up on John B. White Blvd. at the location of the old Regions Bank (next to Cookout). Demolition has already started.
  15. Great! Maybe they can do the same for Woodland Heights. We typically lose power 2-3 times per year due to downed trees.
  16. Neighborhood resident in the Spartanburg Eats Facebook group claims that Five Guys and Jersey Mikes are coming to the Westside (vacant lot across from Outback).
  17. According to the Spartanburg Foodies Facebook group, traffic at the existing location is down dramatically over the past couple of years. It seems to be a combination of mediocre food and bad service. Could be that corporate is considering closing the location altogether, or perhaps it’s underperforming at such a level that they didn’t want to enter into a multi year lease agreement somewhere else.
  18. Hub City Tap House will have a soft opening September 15-17, followed by the Grand Opening September 18-19.
  19. From today's SHJ: In other business, David Garson, who plans to open a new “creative American” cuisine restaurant on the westside, introduced himself to council. Garson said his restaurant, “Friends and Company Bistro and Emporium” will open in about six weeks and will offer jazz music. Garson said he will open his 13,000-square-foot restaurant at 307 West Main St. “We want it to be an extension of your living room,” Garson said. “Somewhere you can come three times a week and not break your bank.”
  20. Apparently Yogurt King on Reidville Rd. has closed. Hate it because 1) it appeared to be a mom and pop business and 2) it had plenty of space inside and didn't feel cramped like some of the other self serve yogurt places in town.
  21. Thought this was old news. http://greertoday.com/greer-sc/gsp-modernization-project-putting-the-pieces-together/2012/07/18/ Two restaurants are committed to GSP. The Thomas Creek Grill concept will be located on the concourse and Greenleaf Grille, promoting healthy menu items such as grilled sandwiches, salads and wraps, will serve a menu of items. Dunkin-Donuts will also locate a franchise. Chick-fil-A and GSP has reached an agreement that becomes effective once GSP reaches the 1.1-million passenger plateau. MSE Branded Foods (food and beverage) and the Hudson Group (retail), two companies already engaged with concessions at GSP, were awarded contracts for their respective services. The Hudson Group/Branded Works were approved for the coffee and snack concession.
  22. Interesting that he's bringing in new staff. If Rome really was the victim of police harassment, can't see how VI won't be as well.
  23. Tried to order something to-go Saturday night and was told by the hostess (?) that "We're not doing to-go orders tonight" and she couldn't tell me when they would start. I understand that it's a little hectic right now; hope it settles down soon and I can try the place out. Hard to get out of the house for a sit-down with three children under 5.
  24. Grabbed a to-go menu yesterday. Can't see how the place won't be a hit. The menu had 12-15 "gourmet" burgers, assorted sandwichs and paninis, several intriquing salads (Crabcake Caeser Salad? Yes, please), and $15-$20 upscale entrees (steak, chicken, shrimp, fish). Looking forward to working my way through it. Most of the stuff on the menu are things I haven't seen in the upstate before.
