  1. Picked up some food for myself and my wife last night. There actually was some outdoor seating, and a city police officer was eating his sandwich out there. Inside looked to be about 3 tables occupied at 8PM, all apparently local college students. While I was waiting on my food, about 5 girls were paying at the register. As I walked back to my car, they appeared to be walking back in the direction of Converse. I think it would really be helpful to the downtown area to get that kind of foot traffic established. I know one of the things that I'm always impressed with when driving through Greenville is the amount of people on the streets downtown. It makes me think "Hey, it'd be nice to just park somewhere, walk around, and people watch." As for the food, it was very good and different than the other sandwich places in town. The staff seemed nice, and they have a 50" or 60" plasma TV inside hanging from the wall. I was glad to see the Clemson stuff on the walls , and they had some very nice framed pictures of Morgan Square from the 50's and 60's. Sure hope this place succeeds. Seems like a very nice addition to downtown.
  2. Hammond Development LLC has completed it's purchase of the old Pizza Inn location on WO Ezell. No site work there yet, but a tractor that has been sitting there for a while has been moved. Perfect location for a westside Starbucks
  3. The vacant space next to Arbys on Pine to be a shopping center with a restaurant. Club Forest bringing shops to South Pine 1,600 square feet isn't very large for a restaurant. It would be about the right size for a Five Guys (www.fiveguys.com), as I was told last year that they are scouting out a Spartanburg location. Also looking for a Spartanburg location is Monkey Joe's, an inflatable indoor play center. The manager of the Greenville store said they are looking at real estate, but hope to be open within two years. You can actually see a "coming soon" for Spartanburg on their website (http://monkeyjoes.com/locations.aspx?id=40).
  4. Thanks for the welcome! I spoke with the builder of this community, and all of the houses will be two story. My biggest concern is the spacing. 25 houses on 5 acres leaves 0.2 acres per house. As if that's not close enough (and it doesn't count the internal access roads), apparently the center of the community will be some type of "common area" for residents to gather and meet. Sounds like a good idea in concept, but I can't get my mind around how close together the houses will have to be. And if I was going to drop $200K-$300K on a house, I sure wouldn't want to be able to open my window and touch the house next to me. I believe this community will be modeled around the one at the intersection of Country Club and Pine St., and the spacing seems fine there. I think this one will be much more compressed.
  5. It appears to my untrained eye that they ARE putting a new mall entrance in where Profitts was. At least, it looks that way from the interstate.
  6. Glad to find this forum! My wife has often made fun of me for being excited about new developments going up in Spartanburg. BTW, our property borders the "New Urbanist" community on WO Ezell/Arrowhead.....I sure hope it raises our property value, but I'm going to miss having the woods as my backyard. My wife is worried that it's going to drive all the snakes onto our property. Anyway, I've got a couple pieces of info that I didn't see posted. One is that the new Exxon station at the intersection of 29 and I-85 will contain a Subway restaurant. The other item is that the former Pranza (also formerly Canyons) will be reopening as a Mellow Mushroom this fall. Good stuff! Also, the former location of Pizza Inn on WO Ezell has a "contact pending" sign out. Not sure who is buying it, but I'm betting that it'll be some type of restaurant once something is built there. EDIT: Daggumit....just saw this stuff mentioned in another thread. Sorry about the duplicate.
