  1. The article implies that nothing much should change, and since attendance is up, I wouldn't think they would tear it down. I agree that it will be nice to get rid of the Paramount's brand.
  2. Creation stopped their brunch? That is sad. Are they open at all on Sundays now?
  3. We ate brunch at Lulu on Sunday. We've been eagerly waiting to go to this place because our dog's name is Lulu I really liked the place. Though the food is a little fancy and they have white tablecloths, it still felt very casual inside. The French guy seated us and he was in jeans and a t-shirt. I wouldn't call it the best brunch I've ever had, but it was good. They have a pretty small menu and most of the brunch items are around $8-$10, dinner entrees are mostly $15-$20 but there are sandwiches available also for $8-$10.
  4. I drove through Northlake Commons, which is beside the mall, on Sunday and it looks like it will be completely finished soon. Panera Bread is already open and I believe Chili's is also. It's actually kind of nice looking, patterned like a downtown with rows of shops on either side and angled parking down the middle, but most of the restaurant sites are separate along the outside. It's still a shopping center, but it's a lot better than I expected.
  5. Opt 12 is supposed to be finished in February but it doesn't look like they will meet that schedule, but maybe it will be done in March. They still have all the interior work to do and the cladding of most of the exterior. The first phase of Duncan Gardens is supposed to open one month after Opt 12 and then the second phase the next month and then the third phase the next month after. One of the realtors at First Charlotte handling sales for these Tuscan projects recently said that Tuscan may get rid of the Urban Stash warehouse and build a mid-rise condo building in its place. Of course that would be a couple years in the future.
  6. That website looks like it is referring only to the cover for New Year's Eve.
  7. I don't know what you being warm has to do with anything.
  8. Does it cost $10 to get in everytime? That article mentions a $10 annual membership. Surely it doesn't cost $10 each time in addition to a membership. That place seems too swanky for me--I prefer somewhere more casual.
  9. There is a Toys R Us across the street from concord mills.
  10. Yeah, those people all have their own private clothing designers.
  11. I cannot believe so many people go through so much trouble to try and be one of the first 100. They give the winners 52 coupons for free combo meals. That's worth less than $300.
  12. I really hope this project turns out well and looks nice compared with the rest of the area on Central Avenue. I know it is going to stand out, but I hope it isn't an eyesore. It is definitely a great location with most anything one would need within walking distance and it is going to put a lot more pedestrian activity on Central.

Oh, I would love that! Especially if it were like the first picture. Something definitely needs to be done, though. That's certain.
  14. Yeah I agree with you. We went there once on a Saturday night and decided we would never do that again.
  15. Patou isn't new, it just moved from a former location on Park Road. It's French and I thought it was good the one time I went, but that was before they moved.
  16. I agree that some of their pricing seems a little high, but many of the Duncan Gardens units are less than $120/sq ft. Opt 12 is more like $160-$175. If Tuscan were to build a mid-rise I would think they would charge more unless they would still want to fall under the $132,000 limit that allows buyers to potentially get assistance from the city.
  17. Haha. We were there right after 11, sitting on the platform by the window. We originally drove over about 10:30 and were surprised to find they weren't open yet. It looks like we were all there on Sunday.
  18. Because of your post we went to Creation for brunch and were very pleased. The menu is small but contains all the brunch favorites. Most items have some aspect to them that make them "Asian-inspired" like the cream cheese egg roll mentioned or the basil bacon. My husband got the Fall Hangover special which included eggs, bacon, homefries, and french toast all for $9. The prices are very reasonable. The hours for brunch are 11-3. The interior is very cool--it used to be Porter's Paint store. It looks like a fun place to hang out and have a few drinks and we're definitely going to go back and try dinner sometime.
  19. 1am to 5am?!? That is insane. I think I will go to that. It sounds like fun and maybe it won't be as crowded as the typical Friday morning.
  20. Yay! Also, this might have been mentioned, but the storage building by Opt12 is now painted purple and pink and the building across the street on 15th has been painted with stripes. It is lovely. Opt12 is scheduled to be completed in February.
  21. Here is the website: http://www.carowinds.com/winterfest/ Unfortunately it doesn't look like the rides will be operating. Tickets are only $20, which is a lot less than the regular admission.
  22. A new bar just opened tonight on Davidson just past 36th and you can take your dog(s) in with you while you drink. It was very cool and low-key. It's owned by the same folks who own the Club K-9 Doggie Daycare on Davidson.
  23. The costume shop hasn't been demolished yet. I don't know what the hold up is.
  24. Yes, you can smell those cookies in Plaza Midwood too. Yum. There are still some people living in Piedmont Courts.
