I've always thought a bridge would be great around here. Are they trying to put this project in place of the 'third crossing'?
Not sure. I think they still want to keep the third crossing but this is to help Hampton and Norfolk out

If that won't work, then maybe close it down for a little while on sundays? They can easly make that space into an open market like they do for special events. A flea market/farmers market would work great.

I love the comments on the article. Still have the idiots saying that its a train to no where. Then some are saying why doesn't go to the oceanfront. I guess the idiots really don't keep up with the progress since 94 of this project. Of couse, aalto had some negative stuff to say

I would get rid of the stop completely! Screw them idiots! They do some of the dumbest things out there. I worked out there for a couple years and man I swear I don't know how NSU is even still around. They are worried about security? There is so much crime on the campus done by the students! Someone was always getting assaulted out there and peoples dorms got cleared by other students! City should fight with everything that NSU wants. Take the 1.45 mill for money they would be giving them. The property they were complaining about was given to them by the city. I guess thats how they repay the city for what it does for them

It amazes me the comments left on the comment section there. They are giving away tax payers money. The city does not give actual money to the developers. That business was not there and the city gets revenues coming in that the did not have before. You have to pay to play. If they are going to compete with other cities to bring big conventions here they need a hotel right next to the convention center. Then they call it a good ol boy system cause the city deals with a local developer that has done amazing things for Vabeach. I just don't get it

If I had the money, I would build a brewery over there on the rivers edge with a dock for the river taxi. I would call it the Norfolk brewery. I would love to put it right there where they torn those old warehouses down. Maybe one day I will have the money to do it. I would be nice to have a few clubs or bars down there with light rail coming down there

I just do not understand the jazz club next to a medical tower in that part of town. I can think of 5 or 6 places in DT that a jazz club could fit just fine, why not give some free money for that if they really would like a true jazz club in Norfolk. I guess because I work in that part of town, I'm thinking that everyone that's in the area is medical, work for medical, or a patient. Can't see a stream of jazz lovers floating amongst the med world...?????

I agreee, Burt. Good luck getting something like this funded, however...unless a private company came in to do it (highly unlikely). Right now, it's just a pipe dream. I'm dreaming away....
I'm not trying to kill your dream but you should see what the traffic is like here. You guys may have more workers downtown but we have the worlds largest navalbase here that adds to the traffic, as well as a huge container terminal. You have to pass through 5 tunnels to get around. You guys have typically gotten the roads you needed but the state has tried to pass the cost to us to profit off the shipping terminals, which happen to be owned by the state. We get no revenues for the terminals. So you can see why we are upset at Richmond(State) here. It was shown that you guys pay less to maintain vehicles there than we do due to poor roads and sitting in traffic.

Makes me jealous to hear that Virginia Beach has begun construction of their light rail system, the Tide. I wish Richmond would get something together like this. Just think of the economic impact this would have on a good route! I'm sure it will be a boon for VB.
