  1. Where is the stadium or field at the high school? i know about the two soccer fields, the track and field, and the field across the street, but can't remember a baseball field. And to clarify, you're for spending thousands to save Berry field, but not Duncan park?
  2. Has Growler Haus opened? If so, any idea on how they are doing?
  3. The city has produced a video highlighting some of the new developments downtown. it shows an artist rendering of the new development on Broad street and mentions that it could be 4 storys instead of 3. http://www.cityofspartanburg.org/news/video-new-developments-and-business-in-downtown-spartanburg
  4. Welcome to Spartanburg gman!
  5. I drove by there yesterday and saw the trees gone. Great spot for something like this...
  6. I had lunch downtown and it was covered with families eating and then going to the Ferris wheel. Even if for a couple of weeks, I believe our restaurants and shops will benefit from someone bringing it to Spartanburg.
  7. A private donor is bring a 90 ft. Ferris wheel to downtown. I love the fact that people are starting to think a little outside of the box, and that it is being privately funded.
  8. That is great news. I plan on joining but just haven't yet.
  9. Wish it was downtown, but still excited.
  10. Anyone know what is going in the old Pizza Inn building beside Copper River? They are renovating, but I can't see a sign.
  11. I'm very excited about Renato's. They are often forgotten about in their current location.
  12. I hope that they can rebuild the pkayground including the train. I hate what happened, but to completely take away the train is not the best solution. Always remember, but it's time to move on.... Also, the surrounding neighborhood is really aging, but if they could revamp it like Hampton Heights, then it could really be exciting.
  13. Pinnacle Hospitality has plans to put another hotel (100 Rooms) at Summit Point near the other two hotels. A brand hasn't been announced, but they plan to start construction later this year. I just wish some more restaurants would come over there also.
  14. I always thought that could be a good location for a Northside YMCA or fitness club. (even though McDonalds is in the parking lot)
  15. I hope they do have good gumbo etc... Love me some New Orleans food.
  16. From my understanding (which is limited) Lockwood Greene used to own the current property. They then sold that property and entered into a lease agreement with the new owners. It is now time to renegotiate that lease. CH2Hill wants some major improvements made to the current location. As with most negotiations, they must have other options in case they can't reach a deal. That is why they are seriously looking at sites in both Spartanburg and Greenville.
  17. I agree with you spartanburgh. Those are the main three options and I know that they are looking at all of them. If they do decide to relocate, then our leaders will have a huge task on their hands trying to keep them in Spartanburg.
  18. Seems like we have two ideas floating around. CH2M Hill is still considering the building for a potential relocation, and this guys keeps floating out ideas and designs. Either way, I hope something comes of one of these plans. Either one would be a great asset to downtown.
  19. I try my best to support our downtown restaurants and not bash them while they are still open. However, since it is closed, the Spice of Life's food was not that good and the service was awful. I'm usually very understanding and went several times but things never changed. I hope the new restaurant concept will be great and I will be one of the first ones to give it a shot. I also hope that the co-op next door will help and they can go together to create a great area around the two buildings.
  20. When did Garfields close? Looks like a new restaurant called Red Bowl Aisian Cuisine is going in the space.
  21. I think that is an awesome idea and a great location, but how many of you looked at the design and thought of the Washington Monument and not 1st responders. I just hope the final design is a little more original...
  22. maybe that's what is going in the old bank building downtown......
  23. I've switched to their gas and my car loves it! Nice modern stores and very helpful. Have you tried the touch screen coffe/expresso counter. I love pushing buttons.
  24. They are going to have to get to work pretty quick indeed. I appreciate the pictures that they have already posted, but it looks like all they've done is exposed some of the original interiors. if it is going to be "totally" renovated by 2013, then they've got to get more than a handyman with a hammer... Also, the other day, there was an article about a bill at the statehouse calling for tax incentives for buildings that have sat vacant for more than 5 years. They could be waiting on passage... don't know, but I would feel better about the project when ownership actually changes hands.
  25. Here is the website for the project. Hope it becomes a reality!! http://www.montgomerybuilding.net/
