  1. I’m hoping that the finished project will look better than the design pics. Looks like a lot of hard space with a few “kidney bean” green spaces. That space also deserves a better water feature than a splash pad. I don’t see how Magnolia can turn onto Main, but that’s okay I think. We could use Magnolia just to accommodate garage access. They really need to upgrade Green street…
  2. Looking over the conceptual drawings, I see why the stadium only has 3500 seats. It looks like you can watch a game free from the plaza, office building, or condos. Do you think they would have some type of “cover” charge on game days?
  3. I parked in the Dunbar garage the other day and there were 3 asleep under the trees at the car entrance and another at the main pedestrian entrance. I was not really comfortable to be honest. You want to be compassionate but……
  4. I could care less as to what deck level is closed. I parked in the Dunbar deck the other day and when I went back 3 homeless people were asleep under the trees as the entrance and one was at the bottom of the stairwell. I was not comfortable…. Something needs to be done.
  5. Which one? Not to be identified, but apparently they have been identified to you…. Agree with the assessment though. Miracle Hill is great and First Baptist is working on the tiny village for women, but walking downtown is not good with all the homeless everywhere looking for handouts….
  6. I figured the grading either got done ahead of schedule or they were waiting on Duke Energy to do something with the three poles at the end of the site. Have you heard something?
  7. It may just be me, but how many times do I have to tell Urban Planet that I’m not a robot! This only started in the last month or so……
  8. Would love to see another restaurant!
  9. Looks like all of the Internal Affairs Art gallery signs are gone from the windows and the space is vacant. Don't know if it was just a short term lease or what. I do hope they find something better....
  10. Spartanburg Marshals - homage to the Rangers and Marshall Tucker Band (or Hub-City Marshals) I would probably support any name that doesn't have Sparkle City in it......
  11. I heard that the condo building would be next to highest in Spartanburg, only topped by Denny’s but don’t know how reliable the source…..
  12. Tried Bar 1884 for lunch today. Still very good, although I miss their crab rangoon dip. Glad they reopened.
  13. Looks like it has really started!
  14. I hope it's related to the Fairfield, but there is heavy equipment on the site today!
  15. This is awesome!! Can't wait to see some renderings. Combine that with what the city is planning for the joint complex, will really transform that area of town. Just hope Nautilus sells so it can be an entirely new couple of blocks of development. I don't see a lot of architectural interest in an old car dealership.
  16. Cliff notes? I know you can’t quote the article, but I don’t subscribe to the HJ anymore so I can’t see the main idea.
  17. Saw that Bar 1884 is coming back on May 3rd!
  18. Actually, my concerns have very little to do with walking to shop; it’s more about knowing that there is even a place to go shop. Although I’m not a Walmart shopper, I do know that they usually have a huge sign that says “Walmart” as well as other shops in the complex. These stores have nothing similar. Many rely on “drive by traffic”. If someone from out of town comes to an event at Morgan Square unless they explore on foot, they have no way of knowing that they are steps away from 2 nice ice cream shops, toy store, hiking store, outdoor dining, plus many other shops. Maybe if the new designs could include some signage or even a directory of some sort, it would throw those businesses some love. I also believe that if the proposed development happens, then that will help a great deal. I’m not opposed to closing the street, but don’t want the city to spend a great deal of money helping some businesses while ignoring others…
  19. I wasn't able to attend, but would love to see some pics of the designs. It's hard to get a good look off of the articles and videos. I'm still a little concerned as to what this will do to the main street businesses from Converse - Church streets. Coming from the Eastside might not be too bad, but if you are coming from the Westside, there doesn't seem to be any good way to navigate over there (yes I know right on Henry, left on Broad, left on Church, right on Main). Why would you want to come up 29, when you can take the St. John Street extension... I'm old enough to remember the "great" idea the city had to make that area a "Main Street Mall" and closed it off to traffic. It killed that whole stretch and is seems to be coming back to life now. Would just hate to see it hurt again.
  20. Wild Wing is also getting a fresh coat of paint (at least on the front), but hard to tell if it's for a new tenant or getting better prepared to put it up for lease...
  21. I hope they are true. I was walking down that way way and it just looks ideal for a stadium and other amenities. I don’t know the regulations in regards to the Greenville Drive, but would still be a great location…..
  22. Not sure, but I thought I read where it would take around a year for the actual engineering plans so hopefully we’ll see some update soon.
  23. Did anyone hear if the city manager was able to negotiate a purchase deal with the Nautilus fitness Center and Blue Moon?
  24. Hate to see an empty building, but not a bad thing really. They had gone downhill so much. Hopefully something great can go in there pretty quick, because it is a great building.
  25. Looks like Knowledge Perk Coffee will be sharing a space with Two Scoops Ice Cream at the Hub. That's turning into one nice little development!
