  1. Good to hear that the city is talking about the intersection at Liberty and St. John's. Hope they make that area more pedestrian friendly.
  2. Ok, which hotel is currently under construction at Summit Pointe? Residence Inn or Hilton Garden Inn?
  3. I love this concept. Naturally, I wonder about cold/rainy days as well as the upkeep and security for all the tvs and games. That being said, if anyone can pull this off, the Cribbs/Willy Taco guys can do it. They have a knack for putting their finger on the pulse of what works in restaurant concepts. I also saw where it was described as a beer garden. Like the idea but I hope it would also be family friendly.
  4. Rick Erwin released some details on the new restaurant. It will be his largest and be named "The Standard". It will be more casual than his others, but I liked some of the menu items they listed. There is a story on GoUpstate but I'm terrible linking from my iPad.
  5. QT is coming to the service station area, but there could be more....
  6. Is there a thread for the new Royce Camp building beside Carrage House Wines? I didn't see one, but wanted to make sure. The construction fencing is now up with heavy grading equipment inside ready to start excavating!
  7. I didn't realize that either, and it scares me. I hope the developers don't look at this as a lost cause now. It looks like it could come crumbling down at any moment with the panels gone. Hopefully this was expected on their part.
  8. Didn't get a picture, but having that rusty fire escape on the side removed looks SO much better!!
  9. The council's agenda does state that the building fronting St. John by BF Spartanburg is in the early planning stages, but it's great to see that are already thinking ahead enough to have the city address the site. i'm very curious and excited about the building on the corner. Hope more details can be shared soon.
  10. True... I didn't know BF Sptbg. had a phase 2 building planned, and I'm hoping it and the Gibbs office on Liberty could be developed. This is the first I've heard of one on the corner. Great spot! Spartanburgh, do you know who is interested in developing that lot? If so, any details?
  11. I was surprised as well. We glad heard rumors of a proposed building there, but I didn't realize it was the same developer. Hope all this development, as well as the Gibbs hotel and office can happen.
  12. That is exciting!! Rick Irwins is the type of restaurant that I was hoping to come there. Love his Greenville locations.
  13. I like this a lot. In fact, I wish the city would come up with a plan for Church Street from the intersection with Asheville hwy. to Carver Jr. High. That whole stretch needs some work. Any way to share your ideas with people that can make it happen?
  14. I wonder what the "few hurdles" are, and how quick do they think they can get them resolved? I don't want to get too excited... I also wish I could see an inside ground floor plan.
  15. This is so great!!! I hope they can find a way to repurpose the theater.
  16. it's really looking nice. When is opening?
  17. Something has to be done quick. I want to save it, but would rather see it torn down than remain in it's current state of disrepair.
  18. I noticed that demolition work is going on inside the old nightclub on Morgan Square. I don't know if there is a new tenant or if the owner is getting rid of the columns etc... to make it more attractive for a tenant. Any ideas?
  19. Wow these are some great developments!! Paparazzi was in the large building between Monsoon and Renato's. It's been several failed nightclubs. Hope a quality tenant can go in there since it is in the middle of Morgan Square.
  20. That is a great reuse of that empty space. It seems we have more vacant grocery stores than anything else. Glad to see this.
  21. The orange cones are being removed!!! 4 lanes all the way to the Hwy.292!!!
  22. The old restaurant beside the car wash on Hwy. 29 has been sold and is being torn down. Any insights as to what is going there? Edit: never mind. I just got around to looking at GoUpstate and the restaurant is a Captain D's. Oh well.
  23. Please don't tell me they are going out on 85 somewhere....
  24. Might as well go ahead and prepare for the worst. I've heard that they announced this to the employees last week. They'll probably wait and put a small blurb in the paper at the last minute hoping people won't notice. This is a shame...
  25. Interesting article. That might be the first time I've heard a city official say that it might have to come down to be redeveloped.
