  1. The Virginia Community Heathcare Association and Community Care Network of Virginia HQ is going up on the vacant lot behind the Primrose School on Westerre Parkway. I work down the street, so I'll try to stop by from time to time.
  2. Here's a PDF on the new dorms and parking decks. http://www.fmd.vcu.edu/wg1.pdf
  3. The VMFA website has updated their construction photo galleries with photos from the summer (interior and exterior).
  4. Even if Main Street Station isn't the best location, I like the idea of a centralized bus transfer station. having been to Providence, RI, I can say that theirs works really well. http://www.ripta.com/news/index.php?section=10 It's a block from the Greyhound Terminal, within sight of the Amtrak station and two blocks from their river walk.
  5. The stadium in the bottom looks great, but the Boulevard plan leave a lot to be desired. It doesn't integrate with the surrounding neighborhoods and looks like a suburban office and apartment complex.
  6. From Wachovia's Press Release: "Citigroup will headquarter the retail bank in Charlotte and the investment bank in New York."
  7. There's also one at VA Center Commons that been there for a several years.
  8. I agree. What happens where a zip code crosses the county line? Will we have Henrico, VA 23227 and Richmond, VA 23227. It goes to the same post office. If people can't figure out who to pay taxes to, how would they know which city to use?
  9. There are three in Western Henrico: Glenside and Staples Mill Parham and I-64 Gaskins and I-64 One in Eastern Henrico at Audubon and Airport Dr.
  10. The Comcast Center in Philly was built on the same block as a church, it is MUCH taller than Centennial will be and the church is just fine. I think the construction industry knows how to work around existing buildings.
  11. I'm NOT sure the map is accurate on that website. I looked at some of the other listings and they had a bid for a Henrico maintenance building marked near the State Capital. Edit: Oops. Forgot the not. Sorry :-(
  12. I checked page 1 and it started out at 22 stories, so 30 is great news. Their listing of floors is a bit off. If you add up the words, it comes to 20 + parking, and if you add the numbers, it's 26 + parking. So with a mechanical floor, that leaves 3-9 levels of parking in the tower.
  13. I believe that climb was part of the old Tour du Trump or Tour du Pont.
  14. It's my understanding that if it goes on next year it would stay in Richmond. Part of the reason for the date of the event was to have an American version of the Tour of Flanders which went on today in Belgum. And the Richmond course in part mimics some of the features found on the Tour of Flanders especially the cobblestone climb up Libby Hill. Richmond has a number of world and national level events coming up. Of course we have the Xterra East Championships in June. This Fall we host the World Long Course Duathlon Championships. December 2008 Hanover hosts the USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country (running) Championships. And in the springs of 2008-2010, Richmond hosts the Duathlon National Chapionships. Plus with all of our local running, biking or triathlon races, we have a lot of well run events at great venues.
  15. Velonews had a good writeup and lots of photos - including the snow in Williamsburg. http://velonews.com/race/dom/articles/12007.0.html The Times-Dispatch coverage was dissapointing, but the national TV coverage was a two and a half hour long ad for Richmond which was great - especially Tim Kaine's interviews. With the way the weather works in Richmond, next year we'll be watching them climb up the cobblestones in 90 degree heat and 100% humidity.
  16. This was the first year for the event so I think next year's event depends a lot on how many people watched it on tv. I'm sure calling or emailing nbc and letting them know how much you enjoyed it can't hurt either. I was up on Libby hill all morning and while the sun made it look warm in Richmind on tv, it was COLD all day long. I hope it becomes a Spring Classic for American cycling. The weather, the hills and the cobblestones sure made it a memorable event. Here are my photos from the day: http://blake.puhak.net/photos/2007-04-07-U...g_Championships
  17. Actually the way it's worded makes it sound more like a parking deck could be built over the downtown expressway - perhaps along Harrison, Linden or Cherry.
