  1. Apparently it was reported on last year: http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2011/08/17/room-to-spread-their-wings/
  2. I work just outside of Innsbrook. During the earthquake I stood right next the the fourth story windows, but this storm had me moving well away from them.
  3. I'm not sure how I managed to embed a slideshow when I just wanted to share a link, but to view them larger: 1) Click the photo 2) Click "Open photo in a new window" 3) Click on the photo (in the new window) 4) At the top, click "View All Sizes" 5) Select the largest size That was much more complicated than it should have been.
  4. VDOT just posted a good series of photos of the Canal Walk and the I-95/I-195 Interchange to their Flickr page. http://www.flickr.com/photos/vadot/sets/72157629984854408/ They also have albums for the Huguenot Bridge and other Virginia projects.
  5. WTVR has some additional images: http://wtvr.com/2012/04/25/vcu-reveals-plans-for-new-32-million-art-institute/
  6. It's University of North Carolina at Charlotte. They made the final four in '77 and have made the NCAA tournament about every other year from 1988-2005. The 49ers were in Conference USA before joining the A-10 in 2005.
  7. The Riverfront plan implementation has already started: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/sports/sport/2012/jan/27/tdsport08-bicyclists-are-riding-high-as-area-proje-ar-1643602/ http://www.richmond-more.org/belleIsland I've heard that the VEPCO leeve bridge and the Missing Link Trial/Greenway were also top priorities on the river front. hopefully the new Brown' Island Bridge (from 5th St) will open soon. It looks complete, but last I was there (a couple of weeks ago) it was still fenced off.
  8. Canal Lofts IV coming to 18th and Cary. http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2012/01/26/developer-plans-to-raise-the-roof-next-to-nightclub/ This wil lcomplete the infill on Cary St on Tobacco Row from 17th to 26th/Pear.
  9. Eggleston Hotel on North Second Street to possibly become Eggleston Plaza and new Croaker's Spot: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/local-news/2012/jan/05/tdmet01-richmond-council-will-consider-jackson-war-ar-1588094/
  10. Those look like plans for Gilpin Court (4th image) and Dove Court (5th image). I can't speak to Gilpin Court, but Dove Court has been torn down and the plans for redevelopment are being finalized, but no reconstruction has been started yet. An article from 2007 says that Dove Court is being used as a test bed for Gilpin Court's redevelopment.
  11. Here are links to the two photos. They images aren't showing up for me in the forums. Broad and Belvidere: http://ws-arch.com/p...ctureId=8004554 West Grace North http://ws-arch.com/p...ctureId=8005410 I think they should tear down all of Broad and Belvidere and start over again. It might as well be a prison taking up the entire block with a single gated entrance. Add some retail on the first floor (even if only in a few spots) and it would be much better. West Grace North looks like it has potential, but in a way it looks like a suburban development trying to recreate the city. It is quite an improvement from previous VCU dorms though, so I'll give them credit for that.
  12. The last phase of Shockoe Valley Heights (which includes Station 2 and Bobber Flats) is getting underway. Richmond BizSense has renderings too! http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2011/11/01/developers-top-off-a-major-project-in-the-bottom/
  13. The 3600 Center (W. Broad and I-195) is becoming four floors of apartments and two floors of retail & commercial space. http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2011/10/28/west-broad-office-building-to-become-apartments/
  14. It appears to be a new 64,000 sq. ft. medical office building. http://www.henrico.us/comments/main.php?Permit=POD2011-00095&Action=related&Submit=Submit Can anyone use the information in the link above to get the actually POD? The only document I can find are the departments' comments on the plans. If it's three stories as the renderings show, then the steel was topped out by Friday afternoon. Potential Rendering: http://readinform.com/on-the-boards/on-the-boards-2/ And here are some (older?) mixed-use site plans: http://www.dba-architects.com/place.html
  15. There's a fairly large crane and some new steel going up on the Reynold's Crossing property this week. From the interstate, it appears to be going up in the northwest corner of the property near the on ramp from Glenside to I-64 East.
  16. I don't know how current these plans are, but they look pretty boring to me: Manchester Place (Second item in the slideshow).
  17. I've have to take issue with you here. The sidewalks don't work "well enough" for pedestrians. The Mayo Bridge is the one pedestrian scale bridge in downtown and if you have a fisherman standing on the bridge you need to walk right on the edge of the sidewalk to get around. Of course, walking on the edge of the sidewalk means that you're playing in traffic since there are no shoulders on the road and the cars aren't going anywhere near the speed limit. That's also why you see bike on the sidewalks because without bike lanes and with the high speed of cars, it's just too dangerous for most people to be riding in traffic.
  18. Mayo Bridge Replacement Meeting tomorrow at Main Street Station (6pm): www.mayobridgeimprovements.com Online survey is due by May 3rd.
  19. The Westin at Glenside and Broad is undergoing some sort of expansion. When I drove by last night there was a single story steel structure going up on the north side of the building. Perhaps they're expanding their meeting/conference center facilities.
  20. VCU School of Medicine Building Website: http://www.ballinger-ae.com/VCU_SOM-I/index.html Renderings, floor plans, construction photos and webcam.
  21. This proposal isn't creating a true children's hospital. From the article, it will only offer out patient services. So one could assume that they will move/consolidate the current Children's Hospital (which only offer's out patient and rehab services - not a "true" children's hospital like Duke or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) to this new building. This would hopefully open up the current Children's Hospital site on Brook Road to become a true children's hospital run by all three local groups (VCU, HCA and Bon Secours) which is what Richmond really needs.
  22. MCV was just on NOVA scienceNow on PBS. Unfortunately, it was just mentioned as an Emergency Room in Virginia, but they had a shot from the rooftop helipad looking towards Monroe Tower and a shot of an ambulance crossing the Leigh Street Viaduct as well as some interior shots.
  23. NBC12 says it's a fire: http://www.nbc12.com/Global/story.asp?S=13849402
  24. It's next Saturday the 13th
  25. The address is listed as 3831 Westerre Parkway. It backs up to the old CC HQ Campus, but there's no through street. The two old Circuit City buildings are still empty. The third building on the campus is used by the State.
