  1. One more for the list... Final Gravity* (Henrico - Lakeside)
  2. So far so good. Lots of rain, flooding on I-95 and hail.
  3. Downtown photos from this morning: http://puhak.net/rcw/RVA-2014/index.html
  4. New Mater Plans have been posted. Interactive: http://rockettsvillage.com/map PDF: http://henrico.com/files/Rocketts_Landing_Master_Plan.pdf
  5. I took a run downtown this afternoon (should have brought a camera)... The walls of the old Reynolds metals building on the Canal Walk are almost all down. The Marriots on Cary St. in Shockoe Slip are starting on the second floor. The new apartments on Tobacco Row look nice. They're doing interior work now. The empty space next to MeadWestVaco would be a great spot for a signature tower.
  6. The rendering shows the Pavilion on the north side of Broad at 17th - where the hotel and Kroger in the most Shockoe Ballpark plans is located.
  7. The last 10 or so pages are about the Gateway Plaza, but the report also includes traffic calming and landscaping on Brookland Park Blvd and near St. Christopher's, revamping the pedestrian walking under Broad St. and Phase 2 of the Capital Trail in Richmond.
  8. Lots of good stuff in here including new Gateway Plaza renderings: ftp://ftp.ci.richmond.va.us/PDR/Urban%20Design%20Committee/UDC%20meeting%20packet%2010-10-13.pdf
  9. You could have a series of locks on the west side of 5th St.
  10. Here's the SUP with Site Plans and Renderings: http://www.churchhill.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Submission_James-at-River-Bend-SUP-9711.pdf And other related documents: http://www.churchhill.org/2013/08/27/james-at-river-bend-condominium-documents/
  11. Isn't the site of the proposed office buildings where the community garden currently is? I can see that being a traffic nightmare at rush hour.
  12. The hotel closed, Genworth bought it. They used it for fire department traing for a while, then tore it down. Genworth has no immediate plans for it - more of a strategic purchase.
  13. And another one at 5th and Hull: http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2013/04/11/manchester-apartment-project-goes-small/ WOW!
  14. The University of Richmond has started work on several new construction projects. The South Campus Apartments, located on the former IM field will be the first building as part of the South Campus portion of campus. This will replace some of the town home style apartments to free up space for a new admissions building and continuing education buildings in the future. Also breaking ground is a new Westhampton Residence Hall located behind South Court. Canon Chapel is undergoing renovations from March until November. http://facilities.richmond.edu/services/architectural/construction/projects.html https://masterplan.richmond.edu/
  15. Redskins training camp webcam: http://www.richmondgov.com/Mayor/RedskinsTrainingCampCamera.aspx
  16. GRTC has a new real-time bus tracking (GPS) app and website: http://www.grtcbustracker.com/bustime/home.jsp
  17. VCU recently closed on the old Ashland Trolley Station/Richmond Glass Shop. http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2013/03/13/vcu-pulls-into-former-trolley-station/ Plans are to turn it into a dance studio.
  18. Richmond Showplace to become Roses Department Store: http://www.timesdispatch.com/business/local/the-showplace-is-becoming-a-roses-department-store/article_53a8ee9a-fe46-59c1-a015-1b874f84c94f.html The Richmond Showplace on Mechanicsville Turnpike (just north of I-64) is closing and will reopen as a Roses Department Store in August. Roses is owned by Variety Wholesalers who also owns Super Dollar.
  19. New downtown hotel? Shamin Hotels is under contract to purchase the 18 story 700 E. Main building (NE corner of 7th and Main). By my count, it currently has 1 floor of retail, 4 floors of parking and 11 floors of class C office space (so obviously I'm mis-counting somewhere - maybe due to elevation, it's 2 floors of retail and adding in a mechanical floor gets us to 18). http://www.richmondbizsense.com/2013/02/25/downtown-office-tower-goes-under-contract/
  20. Took my dog for a walk along the Capital Trail and Canal Walk this afternoon. Here are some photos to enjoy: Elevator Lobby North Canal and White Byrd Buildings Neat mural I had never seen before.
  21. I think that Boston has two stations as well with the Charles River in between.
  22. Riverfront Terraces ($1M Townhouses on the river) are starting construction: http://www.timesdispatch.com/business/economy/posh-townhomes-on-banks-of-the-james-sell-quickly/article_3d9cc386-bc3b-54cf-b770-f84ea95c1ca7.html
  23. Well, this is disappointing... 15 stories (could be up to 21). Looks like it takes up the entire block (closing off the diagonal road). Nothing too exciting. At least there will be ground level retail and maybe a restaurant - then 4 floors of parking and 10 floors of offices. http://www.timesdispatch.com/business/local/companies/story-office-tower-planned-for-downtown-richmond/article_58f1daf2-6a6c-11e2-a4bf-001a4bcf6878.html
  24. It looks like Google updated their satellite images of the Richmond Area (not the 45 degrees views though). The images appears to be from the Fall. You can see the start of the new 2nd St. connector, the new sorority cottages at UR, John Rolfe Parkway, Gayton Rd. Extension, and the new jail.
  25. Shockoe Slip doesn't start until 12th St. (along Cary St. anyway). This tower would be two blocks south of the Wells Fargo tower in the James Center. It would be nice to see that parking lot in between developed.
