  1. By the way, it always cracks me up that most people in Charlotte view Rock Hill as some hick town. I'm not directing this at anyone in Particular, but I keep running into that assumption. To be fair, it is not some cultural Mecca, but there are a lot of great things going on here. The fantastic Riverwalk development, a thriving downtown, a growing brewery scene, fantastic park system, and a lot more. Roll that into lower taxes and the fact that I'm 30 min from downtown Charlotte and 20 min from the airport and you can see why I like it so much.
  2. Thanks! It's a shame the arcade was not preserved.
  3. Does anyone have any information on the roughly 7 story building across the street from Trademark at the corner of W Trade and N Pine? Is it historical at all? What is it used for now? Is it likely to survive development of that block? What's up with the weird backside of it? I've always been intrigued by it.
  4. I had such high hopes for Atherton, but that is just miserable.
  5. To be honest I had no idea that CP&F bought that land. That does make it much more feasible to either build a new stadium or make this a part of a redevelopment plan for renovating the existing one. i'm sure that Tepper has something similar in mind to what Pittsburgh has done in the North Shore. This area could be transformed into a live/work/play area pretty easily. i love the idea of reconnecting the grid, I think that would work great. It would also leave the actual foundry site for residential, which is probably its best use.
  6. This is such a big deal that I thought it deserves its own thread. Mods feel free to merge if necessary. 20+ acre sites near uptown don't come open very often, so this site has the potential to be something special. Right now everyone is speculating about it as the possible home to a new Panthers stadium, but I have my concerns. For me the main issue is connectivity. Right now the property is bordered on one side by 277 and on the other by railroad tracks and a fairly significant rail yard. The only connection to uptown, S Clarkson St going under 277 is tenuous at best. In that regard it shares some similarities with the Music Factory location. How do you envision a potential stadium on this site? And if not a stadium what do you think would work best for this?
  7. What do you do the other 9? (sorry...)
  8. Probably nothing but my wife works for the Belk family and the LLC for their part in the Panthers partnership is named Tomcat.
  9. I was hoping for more height here to connect Uptown and South End but will gladly trade that for a well thought out pedestrian treatment.
  10. If they carried the design from the top all the way to the bottom I would like it. As it is it looks like a really bad copy and paste job until it gets to the top.
  11. Yeah that was it, I never really looked at it closely I just assumed it was an older house left over from a long gone neighborhood. Weird that that was built in the 80s...
  12. When did we lose that gorgeous old house on that lot? Crimeny Charlotte...
  13. I turned this into a skyline thread and I am sorry for that.
  14. Yeah Austin is crazy right now. I came across this image the other day I was wondering if anyone I had done one for Charlotte, I'd love to see the difference.
  15. It reminds me of something but I just can't put my finger on it…
  16. Would be a perfect place for a farmers market like the west end market in Cleveland
