  1. House Republicans send tax plan to Senate without vote. To me, this is the most partisan and frankly, most cowardly thing a politician could do. These people aren't leaders. What kind of leader refuses to even fairly consider a plan before the Senate Democrats vote?
  2. It's a WHRO TV program that comes on Friday nights at like 10:00pm or so. It's pretty much the same as her radio program.
  3. The construction company needs a place to store equipment and prepare for the construction taking place behind the garage. When they built the first research building, they used the site they are building on now for this purpose. The spot that you refer to is, I believe, to be the site of the 3rd research building should it ever be built.
  4. I haven't been by in a while but I'm pretty sure it's a staging area for the 2nd research building going in next to the first one.
  5. Tonight's "What Matters" with Cathy Lewis was all about development and transportation. Fort Monroe has lots of environmental cleanup before it can be reused by the state, the moat may make it too costly for a National Park. There was an 18-story tower delayed in City Center. The Granby Tower segment was unenlightening. Buddy is still living on a prayer. Including 21st St, 800 apartments are being built in the downtown Norfolk area. Waterside will become more of a discussion in upcoming focus groups and council meetings. Also, transportation is going nowhere, much like the rest of us will be going nowhere pretty soon. The two reporters in the know determined the most likely outcome would be leasing current roads, bridges, and tunnels to private entities that would in turn toll for as much as $2 both ways for a very long time. In retrospect, I just wasted 30 minutes watching a show about things I already knew... They should have given UrbanPlanet a shout-out, telling viewers who were interested to come here and discuss...
  6. It would be an insult to the mentally disabled to call the people running this state absolute retards.
  7. Pudong Airport is outside the city, at least the downtown area.
  8. Google has "Street View" for the entire area now... kinda cool and creepy at the same time.
  9. Details unveiled Preliminary plans call for a dense mix of housing, retail, office and recreational uses in the 100-plus acres of mostly city-owned land. The city also envisions 378,000 square feet of retail space, about 260,000 square feet of office space and a recreation area with playgrounds, fields and a community center. What
  10. This company, based in Norfolk, was mentioned in this website that posts lots of neat design, architecture, and tech stuff...Grow Interactive Specifically they found the company's Girl Effect project note-worthy.
  11. I've been having problems viewing pictures posted through Photobucket recently, and figured other people might be having the same problem, so I did a little google search and found a solution that worked for me... All you have to do is: 1) go to Run in the start menu <------------ Windows XP 2) then type "cmd" 3) then type "ipconfig/release" 4) then type "ipconfig/renew" Hope it helps.
  12. They have definitely started on the second building, and looks like site work has begun for the 3rd.
  13. They are either getting ready to start on the second and third research park buildings or they are packing up everything. I know someone here works in the completed building, maybe he/she has some info...???
  14. Although I don't think we need a "Big Dig" here to solve the problems, we definitely could use some of the federal dollars the Big Dig received... The area has the largest naval base, several important airfields, and either the 2nd or 3rd largest port on the East Coast, why aren't we getting the support from Washington we deserve?
  15. City codemns properties for ODU
  16. I wonder if it would it be possible to have the regions vote for the members of this board...? That would be a mess too without knowing whether or not people running for a seat were actually qualified, and wanted what's best for the region... It would still tax people though, so it would be unconstitutional. I was under the impression that western Virginians were the one's holding up a statewide transportation plan, because they really don't care about or understand the importance of both N. Virginia's and HR's quality of transportation. If this is true, what hope is there?
  17. Guess the only way to go about it will be to have state-wide plans...
  18. I found a new plan of what the new quad will look like after completion:
  19. Obama will be at the VB convention center on Sunday... doors open at 5:30.
  20. I've been checking the Obama site, and my emails but haven't seen anything local from him.
  21. Rising Land Costs Slow Redevelopment
  22. ODU partners with Massachusetts company to test another maglev train Norfolk firefighters rescue man hit by steel beam at ODU construction site There are some good pictures of the physical science building, just ignore the injured man.
