  1. Behind the village, i think 41st through 48th... those are definitely treacherous, even driving through. They should probably be made one-way streets, but I'm sure the residents wouldn't want that.
  2. I'm not sure what numbered streets your talking about, but as a commuting student, I've very rarely had trouble finding parking. People are to lazy to park on the top levels of the parking garages, or anywhere across Hampton Blvd. It cracks me up at the number of people who use the elevators in the parking garages...
  3. Right... We win in appreciation values, but we lose in future risk of decline.
  4. I think they beat us... isn't the lower the risk mean it's a better market? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
  5. That guy is always posting comments about voting elected officials out of office. I read one from Ethan O. the other day that would compete with this one for funniest Pilot comment.
  6. I'd imagine that they would stop allowing freshman and sophomores to bring vehicles with them if they live on campus. Most other residential campuses do that, and ODU is transitioning into a residential university.
  7. Well, there is just as much a housing shortage as there is a parking shortage. I should know, I got a letter the other day informing me there was no more room. It's not really an issue of there not being enough parking spaces, it's more of a location problem.
  8. Just got this email: Starting Wednesday, July 4, 2007, a large portion of Lot 27 will be permanently closed off for the new Resident Quad construction. If your vehicle is parked within the projected construction site in Lot 27 we ask that you please relocate your vehicle to another space outside of the construction zone. Any vehicles located within the construction zone on Thursday July 5, 2007, will be subject for a relocation tow.
  9. The process they chose to proceed with is quicker than other alternatives. At least that's how I understood it.
  10. Just another reason to "Ride the Tide."
  11. Development news from the June 15th Board of Visitors meeting: -The Board wants the Powhatan Sports Complex and the Foreman Field Game Day Plan to be a design/build process, so that it can be completed by the Fall of 2009. -The bids for construction of building C of the new housing quad are in, and President Runte said they were "favorable".
  12. I agree, they should fine visitors the same amount.
  13. You will not be fined for not signaling onto the street that you live on, but when people are out there weaving in and out of lanes without signal, then I think $350 is reasonable. And I believe if it's a felony then sure, why not $1000? The law specifically states that these fines are intended for dangerous drivers. Well, you've got until Sunday to not use your turn signal... better start taking some ginkgo biloba so you don't forget.
  14. Just don't break the law, and there's nothing to worry about.
  15. Looking forward to your many insights... welcome!
  16. Granted, the hamburgers are about as tasty as cardboard, but I don't see why Doumar's ice cream can't be like any of the favorites you picked from those other places. I've heard the Bar-B-Q is good, I believe they serve the Doughtie's brand which is a local brand favorite. For me, High's was always down the street so that's where I would go for ice cream. This is getting off topic...
  17. We do have an iconic fast food restaurant... it's not in VB. rusthebus, you got to it before I did.
  18. Picture in your head the stereotypical unibrow and then enlarge it 100x. Try the news at 11, if you can...
  19. Please tell me I'm not the only one who watched Wavy News at 5! They will probably air the story again tonight. Everyone who needs a good laugh today, has to watch the DMV clip.
  20. Here is a story from Wavy 10 with some more details than the Pilot articles.
  21. First off, I was kidding, but in all seriousness... mature people disagree, mature people can go overboard, and mature people are able to resolve their own arguments. I don't see the need to go back and delete what has already been said. As a moderator, you did your job, and I have no complaints with you.
  22. I'm really tempted to put up a very naughty post just in spite of urbanplanet's rules (censorship)... These heated "discussions" are so much better than all the others!!! That's part of the appeal of online discussions... people say things they wouldn't otherwise say face to face. To get back on topic, I think we can all agree that a small injection of creativity in the local cuisine wouldn't hurt.
