    New Hotels

Interesting. I wonder how they decided on building in BR?
  4. LOL! Yup, I was tricked too. When I read title at first I thought it was an April Fools joke cause I was wondering where on I-12 they could put it but then I told myself Cajun doesn't usually do the trick. It only took me 17 years to catch on....I really did have to think of that though, the other day I saw skyscraper forum and was reminded of how Richy invited me over here years and years ago.
  5. ^ Pretty much, I say when y'all actually have the bridge built and ready I'll believe it.
  6. Affordable housing development planned for former Borden’s site Georgia-based JPB Holdings is planning a 49-unit affordable apartment development on 2 acres at the former Borden Dairy site on Florida Boulevard. Phil Britton, vice president with the company, says the roughly $10 million project, called Sea Holly Grande, will be geared toward residents who earn about 60% of the area’s median income and will benefit from tax credits. He expects to begin construction in July or August. https://www.businessreport.com/business/affordable-housing-development-planned-for-former-bordens-site
  7. Right, I was wondering both questions myself. Aldi files plan for Baton Rouge store, see where it will go Fast-growing grocery store chain Aldi has submitted plans to build a location near the intersection of Siegen Lane and Rieger Road and is looking to hire a store manager. Aldi submitted plans last week to East Baton Rouge Parish officials for a nearly 20,500-square-foot freestanding store that would be next to Total Wine in the Siegen Village Shopping Center. The chain is running ads on its website for a store manager trainee at the Rieger Road store.
  8. Nice, where did you find those pics? Boy they're really getting their money's worth outta those plots of land huh. I'm I wonder if that Oneal development is going to be those monopoly-garage homes (not that's there's anything wrong with owning one)?
  9. ^ ^ ^Cool, we might be the smallest city to have one.
  10. My mom and I joke that soon it'll be likethe old days that if you want to do "real" shopping you'll have to board the train down to NO like in the 1920's. https://www.nola.com/news/business/article_fecfd658-a6f9-11ec-8357-afbbbb23d2b6.html An Amazon store in Lakeside? Permit sought, but company strategy raises questions A permit application filed in Jefferson Parish on March 3 sought permission to remodel 4,657 square feet of retail space at Lakeside for "retail use." The permit listed "Amazon" as the business seeking the approval, which would have demolished a previous retailer's space and installed new "storefront, partitions, doors, lighting" and other elements. That same day, however, several media reports recounted Amazon's decision to shutter 68 brick-and-mortar retail stores, including ones known as Amazon 4-Star, Pop Ups and Amazon Books. Many of those, especially the 4-Star stores, carried toys and homegoods that were highly rated on Amazon's website. The 4-star stores, as well as the Pop Up kiosks, are often found in malls.
  11. Interesting! Not gonna lie, when I saw this I thought 'let me check to see if it's April 1st'. Wonder what made them choose BR?
  12. Yeah me too. I'm guessing they'll just put them in the District spot. Hopefully, the style of the apartments fit with everything else. I almost wonder why they couldn't find a hotel to build there instead of boring ole apartments? Or some new stores....but as Cajun said I guess this is expected in a post online-consumer era.
  13. Well I am halfway disappointed because that location was convenient for me but I'm sure their new facility will be nice. All Star Automotive building new Hyundai dealership on Airline Highway All Star Automotive is building a new All Star Hyundai dealership on Airline Highway to replace its current one on Airline near Coursey Boulevard. The new site, at 12730 Airline, was chosen for its accessibility to Pecue Lane and its visibility from Airline, McKay says. The new dealership will be larger than the current, spanning nearly 30,000 square feet. It will also have an 80% larger service department, McKay says. Construction is beginning this week and scheduled to be finished by December 2022 or January 2023.
  14. I was literally driving by there yesterday wondering why Lulelemon didn't open in Towne Center and how much longer it'd take to fill the empty building. Hopefully they do well but I was kind of wondering how well Madewell will do since J. Crew is struggling. Madewell opening first Baton Rouge store in Acadian Village this spring The former location of Lululemon in the Acadian Village Shopping Center on Perkins Road is now home to Madewell. (Google Maps) Baton Rouge’s first Madewell store will open in Acadian Village, in the former Lululemon location, this spring. Signs put up on the building Tuesday announced that Madewell will be the new tenant for the space formerly occupied by the athletic brand, which moved across the street into the former Provisions on Perkins location in September. Madewell, owned by J. Crew and known for its denim clothing and accessories, has been filing permits for the space since early December. Louisiana’s only other Madewell store is in New Orleans.
  15. ^Hmm interesting and good points...I wonder if they'll give tours like they did for the children's hospital cause I'd go just to be nosey?
  16. Yup. I saw that headline, I think we're past the "warning" stage though.
  17. Cool, one of my coworkers joked that they're putting the building together with glue to build it so fast.
  18. I agree. I'm glad they built something but could have come up with a more interesting/mixed use design.
  19. I haven't tried either. Donuts are my favorite food though so the more donut shops the merrier.
  20. Can't wait for them to open. Chase Bank branch going from dollars to doughnuts | Business | theadvocate.com A former Chase Bank branch on O’Neal Lane has been sold to the owner of two local doughnut shops. Peou Toch, who owns the Town Donuts locations in Central and Zachary, bought the bank branch at 1312 O’Neal Lane for $382,000 in a deal that closed last week, according to documents filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. The deal includes a 1,568-square foot building sitting on nearly an acre at the intersection of O’Neal and Centurion Avenue.
