  1. They really did, I was wondering where this was?? lol
  2. Yuck. I have one by me and as I say I understand the NIMBYs now....
  3. Interesting. I'd like to see one one day.
  4. J.Crew moving into the Towne Center Clothing retailer J.Crew is returning to Baton Rouge with a new store in the Towne Center. https://www.businessreport.com/business/j-crew-moving-into-the-towne-center I'm guessing it will go in the former Ann Taylor Loft or Children's Place although there are several other spots.
  5. Its kind of fascinating how waterways flow. If you look on Google maps it appears that Claycut may have started from or been connected to Ward creek.
  6. See what's being built in Gonzales, near Cabela's | Business | theadvocate.com American Factory Direct Furniture is set to open its sixth store in early July, across the street from Cabela's in Gonzales. About 16 people will work in the 34,000-square-foot store at 2760 S. Outfitter's Drive. Kent Design Build and Guidry Land Development are the contractors. Officials with Covington-based American Factory Direct said the store will be a replica of its Lafayette location.
  7. I forgot about the one on Siegen and was wondering what they were building in front of the wine store. They have the land gated off on O'Neal lane.

    Northgate

Uh oh looks like the link is broken.
  9. Good assessment. I was thinking the same thing, EBR is draining into surrounding parishes.
  10. Multiple trees around my parents house have been struck at various times. I think I remember they loved for about 1 year or 2 then ended up having to be cut down.
  11. Well now that I'm older and have my own place I understand the nimbys better. But considering Livingston parish is one of the "best" in LA you can't expect to stop people moving in.
  12. Well that's good to hear people are getting more options for new housing.
  13. Hmm, those are good ideas, I've never thought about it before. I guess it was always like that as far as I can remember so I never thought about how to make it better.
  14. Friend, tell me about it. That could be said about the whole development.
  15. I can see that happening. Maybe it can be converted into living space... since they claim there's an affordable housing shortage....Well I an actually believe that, I just don't see them building much affordable housing.
  16. That would definitely be nice and ad some life to downtown.
  17. https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/business/downtown-building-sold-for-55m-to-become-apartments/article_6d9ccddc-d4af-11ed-9a14-371ffa922856.html Vacant downtown office building sold for $5.5 million, will become apartments A vacant office building in downtown Baton Rouge has been sold for $5.5 million to a New Orleans development group that plans to build luxury apartments on the site. Key Real Estate bought the 1.4 acre property at 617 North Blvd. in a deal that was filed Monday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office.

The property at 5295 Highland had been a Circle K. This will be the fourth Cava in Baton Rouge. The fast-casual Mediterranean chain acquired Zoe's Kitchen in 2018 and is rebranding the three local restaurants.
  19. Ha, you didn't get me this year... Mainly because I scrolled all the way down on my phone save read up ! I wish though... As I say, BR usually participates in national trends so if/when they have another skyscraper boom we should get another mid-rise.
  20. I ended up taking the survey today. I'd like to see some more fast food options downtown.

    MoveEBR

Yeah that is an interesting plan for sure but I think it could be a useful route.

    BREC

Looks relaxing, I'll have to visit one day.
  23. I agree, they seemed to have helped Florida Blvd in Denham Springs.
  24. Yes it does send the message that this area is done with. It'd be nice if they just bulldozed vacant properties like the former apartments/gas station at Drusilla and Old Hammond.
  25. I skimmed an article saying they're going to redevelop the old Six Flags in NO, but it doesn't look like it's going to be as exciting as an actual amusement park. It'd be nice if they built a new one somewhere. It'd probably still be too close to the coast but I would think they could redevelop the old Northshore mall as an amusement park or even the partially completed Pinnacle mall in Covington. In theory atleast. Also they're adding a Zara to the Mall of LA which is the trendy new shop of the moment. It's going to take the top and bottom floors corners across from Sears where William and Sonomas used to be.
