  1. Richmond has had a semi pro team under different names for quite sometime now. I think at one time they were known as the Virginia Ravens.
  2. Anyone see the article yesterday about GRTC moving and developers can't wait to develop their current site? They are supposed to be moving by 2009.
  3. Wonder why Tyler voted against it Burt. He sure seems to be zigging while everyone else is zagging.
  4. I went to Si a couple of nights ago. It is owned by the same guy who did Bank and is located at the longtime Cafe di Pagliaci (sp?). Anyway, it is a tapas restaurant and bar. The restaurant is very warm and intimate and they serve food until 1:00 A.M. IMO, it was really well done and I am excited to have it it in the neighborhood. Food was good too.
  5. Burt, there was a Buckeye game this past Saturday, and yes, you do pay by flight segments. They offet $10.00 flights to the first ten seats sold on each flight, so theoretically, you could fly to SD for $20.00.
  6. Ok Burt, here is my Skybus report: I checked in online 24 hours in advance. I was in Loading group 2. You could pay $10.00 to get priority seating, which means you get to load the plane first. There are no reserved seats. The plane was nice and felt fairly new. There were 3 seats on each side of the aisle and they were made of leather or something to feel like leather. The flight attendants were friendly and dressed casually (they wore different Skybus t-shirts). They also had a sense of humor...I asked for a napkin and they said it would cost $4.00. They asked the cabin to raise their hands if they purchased a $10.00 flight. The food was adequate and the pricing was not too bad. Soda...$2...beer/wine $5.00...Box lunch $10.00. They obviously charge for everything including checked luggage (no charge for the napkins and restrooms). They only have one flight to Columbus (8 A.M.) and one flight to Richmond (6:30 A.M.), so if you want to continue to another destination you might have to spend some time in Columbus. Although there is a flight that leaves forSan Diego at 9:41 A.M., so that would be a nice trip for #20.00. I thought it was a pleasant experience and would definitely fly them again. Other observations: The plane was about two thirds full for both flights. People were using it for other destinations (VA Beach, Outer Banks). Ohio State Buckeye fans were plentiful. You can easily be a season ticket holder from Richmond now. The first plane I boarded had a big Nationwide Logo. When I got off the plane I noticed the Skybus logo on the tail. They were selling ad space on their plane...pretty good idea imo. Lastly, the Columbus Airport feels like a bigger city airport.
  7. I think Brent was talking about Rendevous, next to 27.
  8. Burt, My tickets were $30.00 each.
  9. I'm flying Skybus on Saturday, September 8th. I'll let you all know how it goes.
  10. Ironically, The Bank of Richmond is no longer local. They have been acquired, though I can't remember by whom. I do know that it was not a local bank however.
  11. Major Leage Baseball is setting another attendance record this year. Other minor league franchises with new ballparks are experienceing great attendance numbers. It is the stadium. I'm sorry, but I have been hearing about the emergence of soccer in this country as a major sport for years now. It hasn't happened and I ain't holding my breath.
  12. Burt, Valet Parking is also provided (compliments of Quirk) in front of Corporate Museum and Frame. This is the block with Quirk and 1708.
  13. Plant Zero is Manchester's Commonwealth Club...Don't you guys no anything.
  14. Dogwood has been sold. I don't know if it will remain Dogwood, but the owner/chef has sold it. Too bad 'cause it was some good eatin'.
  15. On RCW, supmeup has seen renderings of a 35 story building that will be 450-500feet...Cool!
  16. I don't think WS moving impacts the triangle project. FWIW, I'm hearing that Williams Mullen would be the tenant.
  17. Richmond rates 13th: http://www.bizjournals.com/edit_special/50.html http://www.bizjournals.com/specials/pages/73.html
  18. For some reason Pakistani restaurants make me think of Jerry Seinfeld.
  19. Take the Valentine Richmond History Center's Quiz at www.iknowrichmond.com. Also, be sure to take the quick survey that follows. I scored a seven.
  20. Burt, I assume you know that the critic's comment was dripping with sarcasm.
  21. Historic Richfound Foundation opposed the razing of the Murphy Hotel. But they lost the fight, so they are participating in the design of the new building.
  22. Perhaps you should stick to fine dining and the theatre Burt.
