  1. More likely would be Virgin America flight to SFO. MNAA has been chasing a flight to the Bay Area pretty hard, and allegedly is offering decent incentives for it. I think VX's product would be preferable than a long UAX flight in a regional jet.
  2. Every Bay Area company that comes here helps MNAA 's efforts to get us a direct flight there. Read somewhere we're one of the largest cities without a nonstop to SFO
  3. I don't understand the BoA in Green Hills bit. They have one literally across the street at the entrance to Hill Center.
  4. Nashville has UberX which is the cheaper ride-sharing form of the service. I wonder when we'll get the normal Uber black car service
  5. People who don't know or understand surge pricing are too dumb to use Uber. You have to type the multiplier into your phone to verify that you understand how much it'll be. Further, when surging is in effect they push you to use the fare estimator. When will we get Uber in Nashville? It makes us look backwards that we don't have it.
  6. This makes me sad. Looks like the winner probably checked the most boxes on the city's evaluation while being the worst overall proposal. Some of these would add so much more to the neighborhood. Retracting my previous post (two above) this is plain depressing. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Avis=DN&Dato=20131209&Kategori=BUSINESS01&Lopenr=312090075&Ref=PH
  7. Realistically this thing will be better than the current CC no matter what. It has blank walls on Broad and 5th, cuts off 6th Ave, puts a loading dock on Broadway, has little activation on Commerce, and is generally ugly. That said, I think the Broad/5th facacade at this point is pretty rough looking. Not a fan of all of the cantilevers. I personally think the tower is pretty cool looking and will certainly make a huge visual impression on the south side. I think it is a little concerning how inward-facing they designed it to be; they really did create a sort of urban lifestyle center. Presumably they'll try and draw in "destination retail," but I doubt Hermes or Louboutin would want to make their first location Lower Broad rather than Green Hills. Hard to believe they'll get financing for an office project that big without Metro guarantees or pre-leases.
  8. I've also heard that buzz, but not from anyone I consider authoritative.
  9. Hey if the months had shifted just a little bit he could've easily had his own hole in the ground on 5th and Church! Gotta love Tony's vision and drive but I would like to see just one of his proposals post-recession break ground...
  10. I also have wondered about what the dedicated source of funding will be for mass transit. I remember a study from several years ago about possible sources, and also dug this back up ( http://www.nashvillempo.org/regional_plan/transit/dedicated_funding.aspx ) about the state enabling the NMPO to create regional funding for mass transit
  11. Dallas Omni is so incredibly distracting at times when you're driving because they do nuts light shows with moving images. It's not usually as cool as the UT logo - typically just the logo of whatever conference is there or whatever company is having an event.
  12. Maybe I'm being too literal, but the road doesn't look like Broadway at all. I mean, it's two lane with trees on the other side. Plus, didn't we see in the paper this week that Dean said that they're starting a CC Master Plan project and it won't be a HOB? I feel like a larger lot off of Broad in Midtown makes more sense
  13. From people I've spoken to about AMP they have told me that the E-W starter line will be our "spine" that down the road we tie other things into. So imagine a line going south down Hillsboro, north up 8th, tying in commuter rail to the spine to destinations to the NE/SE/S. Glad it's moving forward. Next step is finding dedicated finding for regional transit...
  14. Thanks for the feedback, folks! I was bummed because I don't get to spend a whole lot of time here in Nashville any more and wanted to drink outside with locals! I had heard that it clears out on holiday weekends, but maybe Sunday at 3:00 is just a dead time? Again, probably should've gone to Hillsboro Village or 5 Points. I will say how impressive I find the infrastructure in the Gulch - Nashville is good at getting ahead of the growth in that respect!
  15. My friend and I were both in town this weekend from Dallas and DC respectively and were looking for a good place to get a drink outside and catch up. We were both stunned, however, by how empty the Gulch felt on a gorgeous Memorial Day weekend! Literally, we walked around at about 2:30 and were the only people on the streets. Very surprising considering how alive I've seen it at other times. Maybe Pine St Flats will liven the place up a little more? I guess we should've gone over to East Nashville!
  16. Because Vanderbilt and Nashville have nothing in common, of course. Way to disregard Tennessee's second-largest private employer, and a major economic engine for our city.
  17. With NABRICO building and Cumberland Park open, does anyone know the next step for riverfront redevelopment?
  18. Barney's just closed in Dallas, it certainly can't make it here.
  19. Yeah I was at MNF and it looked great walking back towards DT after the game
  20. From their website: Masonry: 1. Base bid to be brick and stone up to level 2 with stucco above level 2. 2. Alt #1 to be brick and stone up to level 2, brick and fiber cement trim from level 2 to level 6 and stucco above level 6. 3. Alt #2 to be brick and stone up to level 2, brick and fiber cement trim above level 2. That just sounds lovely...
  21. I disagree that we'll never see any form of mass transit through Green Hills. I think if anything that should be one of the highest priorities in the long-term plans. Have a good park and ride at Harding/Hillsboro and have a N/S line that starts in GH and intersects with the E/W BRT Line and continues to North Nashville. It combines a number of attractions and workplaces, and could help pull some congestion off of Hillsboro. Gets a little tight through Hillsboro Village, however.
  22. hahaha this doesn't even sound like real life. WOW.
