  1. That wasn't the final design, it was just a massing study to get an idea of how it would all work. I'm glad to see some publicity on the project website!
  2. Yes, they're part of our Streetscape program to be applied over the next ten years. Here's a map/study of where bike lanes are and where they will and should go: http://www.franklin-gov.com/pdf/BPPU/Frank...11x17's.pdf Also note that this map doesn't include sidewalks.... if you bike on those the map would have more. In all seriousness though, it isn't a bike-friendly place. Del Rio is too small for bikers to bike comfortably and it's a major pain for drivers to go around you all. The safe places, for the most part aren't scenic, so you all have troubles.
  3. Not much, the BOMA is debating what to do about our water; some want to build another plant on the Harpeth, others realize that the Harpeth isn't a reliable source and want to go after other sources. There's also debate over what to do with Hillsboro Road (5 or 3 lanes, fully streetscaped or do it on the cheap, do it at all, etc.) and Shroer wants to reorganize the committees of the BOMA. EDIT - A decision was reached over Hillsboro Road: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...8/1164/COUNTY09 Looks like they at least, at first, decided that they want to do Hillsboro Road all the way
  4. Something I found interesting about the whole thing is that the other day I was in a little briefing about Cresent Resources about what they do, who they are, etc. For those of you who don't know, Cresent Resources essentially developed all of the East side of Cool Springs and basicly every office building you can credit to them. How that relates to MTC is, I asked them what they planned to do now because within five years CS will be out of availible land and I asked them where they plan to go. Their response is that they plan to go to MTC and develop that. I was amazed with that! These are the people that attracted Nissan! So, apparently they're already planning on approval and are starting to think where they can get in to build office in there. EDIT - Here's an image to show how much they did. They did all the office buildings in dark blue, yellow, the orange, all the stuff down to McEwen in this piture, and they now own the Primus building. They have this site, and some land across McEwen and then they're done.
  5. I was (and I think RK, too) referring to the new City Hall proposals from Balfour Beatty and Crosland that were in the Sunday paper Sunday before last. The online Tennessean only has one picture and it looks fine... it leaves out the horrible ones.
  6. Approved, ground-breaking in the Spring, first move-ins in '09. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...D=2008801270361
  7. Haha, is WES the best thing to cite that this thing is going to get going? With Lake Palmer filling and little resembling a building on the site, I would say not.
  8. You're aware that the renovations aren't done yet, right? http://www.flynashville.com/renovation/default.aspx
  9. Did anyone see in the paper the thing on the redevelopment of City Hall? It's horrendous! It's a modernist monstrosity that's landed in our sweet, classicist town, and I think I'm going to die if Crosland wins the competition. I think that if it was approved it would kill DT Franklin. I wish I could post the photos, but the Tennessean only posted one of them on the website, and it was a good-looking one; not the picture of a big, glass beast lurking over the square.
  10. I think this neglects the fact that CS wasn't just a random huge development in a field... before that there were excellent schools and neighborhoods. The problem Metro continues to face is the lack of suburban Metro high/middle schools and a good education system as a whole. I mean, kids from this development would go to WHITE'S CREEK!
  11. So what do you think the timeframe is (i.e. 'official' selection of SoBro, Presentation to Metro Council, approval, design, construction, etc.)? I just hope that there's a desire to make this a good project for both residents and visitors and there's something in this (or hopefully wrapping the edges) in terms of amenities or retail for residents. Do you think they'll re-open 6th Avenue after we close the current CC?
  12. The scuttlbut I'd heard was NWA... That could be an great mix w/ NWA's position in Asia and Delta's random destinations and their strong European presence In the US they might have to decide to eliminate some Central hubs (Cinci,. Memphis, Detroit, Mineapolis) and they're both already in SkyTeam, so it seems like it would be an easy transition. I don't think the Feds would have an issue with them merging like they would have in ye olden days. What I fail to see is how BNA fits in
  13. I think he essentially has to say that though... I dunno, if I doesn't start digging by April I think we can call this dead. NOTE - There's nothing special about April, I don't claim any inside knowledge, I just think that's about how long people will be willing to wait.....there's no basis there....don't jump on me for it
  14. Do we know if there's any news on Neuhoff? It seems it made a big splash and since has said/done little.
  15. Well that was a pretty long piece of fluff! I was interested in the information about the North Gulch site and the new tower he wants to launch in SoBro. I like his idea of building a parking garage in it for the city.
  16. We'd have to get in line behind a 'Florida One,' an 'Illinois One' (for MDW), but it sure would be cool! I don't see them doing as many state planes in the future IMO, because Washington DC made such a stink about the Maryland One (they claim that BWI draws from MD, DC, and VA - thus there should be a 'DC One')...that experience may have turned them off of the whole thing.
  17. IMHO, the reason that JetBlue failed here was that they didn't commit to us enough. Only one destination? I don't think it's Nashville's fault that we didn't flock to them. The only issue is Chicken vs. Egg. Do they add several routes for us before we show we'll support one route, or was doing one route and seeing its failure evidence enough that more wouldn't have worked. The issue I heard from many people is - 'Why would I want to fly NE to New York to fly back south or west to X city?'
  18. I don't know if you noticed this, but there are columns that go from floor to celing and the end of the stadium near Demonbreun steet. One on of the columns from top to bottom is a picture of the Siggie and at the bottom the little logo. I didn't get a pict, but maybe someone can.
  19. That's possible, but because they're building a house in Bancroft I would doubt it.
  20. In my opinion, it's too bad they got rid of Song. I always thought it was a neat concept and could have been a great competitior for them against Virgin America and JetBlue had they developed it more.
  21. Wow, tough crowd, Lexy! It's hard to get any sympathy from those guys!
  22. Awesome picture of Air Force One! Wow, for any of you who haven't been to the airport since they re-opened the C Concourse connecter it's AMAZING! I walked through it and thought to myself, "Is this really OUR airport???" It looks great and I've already eaten in the O'Charleys there and I think it's a nice change to have local food in there instead of nasty chains that I know nothing of.
  23. Are we to the point yet where we can declare this dead?
  24. I walked by there the other day while waiting for my delayed flight and people were in it and it seemed open. It looks really great and should be a nice (re)- addition to the airport
  25. I was in the airport on May 31 and came back in on June 16th and renovations seem to really be coming along! I REALLY love the carpet in the C Terminal - it makes things so much quieter- although I already see stains. Do we know when the first phase is supposed to be finished, because at this point the airport is looking pretty rough IMO.
