  1. I think the intersection of St. John St and N Church St. has great potential to house ground floor small shop space and expand the options for small business to locate. I would like to see the QS1 clock and landscape area developed into a mixed use multi story building with options for "small" business. The same goes for the surface lot the City is acquiring from the Federal Building and the hotel site that was going to be the Cambria. This intersection can be a strong anchor for small business if done correctly. In my opinion the AC Hotel site plan is a disaster. The street frontage should have been small shops along Daniel Morgan and W Main St. with a 2 or 3 level parking deck behind. This would have greatly expanded the options for small retail/restaurants and eliminated the dead area where the concrete wall and swimming pool are. How the DRB let the existing happen is disappointing. This would have really livened up the W Main corridor entering downtown.
  2. You can see the dismantling of the warehouses just West of the RR tracks in the video.
  3. Vote NO! County Council just added 15% to our already too high property taxes. The $25 road fee that was imposed for years did not yield any noticeable improvement. There are now 30,000 more homes paying property taxes than were paying last time property taxes were reassessed and the added 15% and they still don't have money? Obama passed a multi trillion infrastructure bill after the fiasco with the Minneapolis interstate bridge collapse plus the lead water in Flint. Did you notice any change? NO! Biden just passed another multi trillion dollar infrastructure package, will you notice anything different? NO! They will squander and waste and try to take credit for paving federal and State roads and squander 90% of the rest. Vote NO!
  4. It must be Fifth Third Bank? Also, I am hoping that the common area will be large enough to accommodate the Ice Rink that has been missing for a couple of years. That would bring traffic to the area in the weeks after baseball.
  5. Rod busters have been making rebar mats for the footings at the lot across Daniel Morgan. Footings should go in very soon!
  6. There is a new cafe in the Spartanburg Downtown Airport terminal. It is very reasonably priced (mini sub/sandwich combo's) $8-9 bucks and it's very good. Anyone who is close by should try it!
  7. The dust is ready to fly! Heavy equipment has arrived on site today!!
  8. I hope the Southern and Big South conferences will move their baseball tournaments to Spartanburg as well.
  9. I think it may be okay if they only limit incentives for a Hotel in the same category. For example, if it's a Limited service such as a Hampton Inn you should still be able to build an extended stay product such as a Home 2 Suites or a full service Hilton or any other market segment that doesn't compete directly with the brand the developer chooses. If a developer is not seeking incentives, I don't know how you could stop them from developing a Hotel.
  10. Generational welfare and unemployment. Given the opportunity for high paying jobs and improving the neighborhood they chose the keep the abandoned eye soar and wonder why they can't support a grocery store. Little hope.
  11. That's an incredible investment and I don't think that number represents the new City/County administration building does it?
  12. It looks as though the pad is ready for footings. Apparently, the power poles will not have to be moved and the site is ready for the foundation contractor.
  13. It looks like they have installed the water line, fire line (water) and sewer taps. Still waiting on Duke to move the overhead power poles it seems.
