It sure is. Was a Tuesday morning after that (and who could forget the "Yellow rose")  they kept the Riccios and the karate place.   I'm super impressed by the way the building looks. Worth the drive through there for sure.

My south Charlotte friends still mourn the loss of the Rose.

Plus they bought extra acreage to expand the plant further. Great news for Union county which needs more commercial tax base to balance all their residential growth.

I think this will work out better than if it were this year.    We will have more new hotels open and the Lynx Blue line will be open to University City.

Good point as we will have 5 new hotels opened at least the Kimpton, AC by Marriott and Residence Inn at Epicenter, already opened late this spring Embassy Suites and Springhill Suites. Maybe 2 more the Bohemian not sure  and maybe the Home2Suites at Stonewall Station.

Several local job announcements today.

Charlotte is adding the 11th most apartments in the county however we are beat by Nashville. Our vacancy though remains low and I guess this is the good news. Since our population is growing so much we need some place to put people. http://www.nreionline.com/multifamily/15-top-markets-apartment-construction-2017/gallery?slide=5

My wife and I are selling our condo, in Matthews, and have been assured that the market is hot! Hot! HOT!

Flipside: due to the seller's market -- aided by a shortage of inventory -- we are being warned that we may need to bid for the house we want.

312's population has been pretty flat for a long time.  That said, the Grant Park Condo Tower is gonna be a monster, and given all the construction in South and West Loop, that's really surprising.  And encouraging.

Certainly with MetLife, TIAA, and Axa, we've got to be in the mix for this:

Quote

Aetna Inc., whose founding more than 150 years ago helped turn Hartford, Connecticut, into the insurance capital of the U.S., is thinking about leaving.

The health insurer is in negotiations with several states about relocating its headquarters, and will make a decision by early summer, T.J. Crawford, an Aetna spokesman, said in a statement Wednesday.

Given the plan is to leave most of the lower paid HQ employees in CT and move the top executives to a new separate HQ in a city that shows a forward thinking brand, I wouldn't be surprised if it is Boston, maybe even NYC (where they have apparently shopped for real estate). Boston is a nice compromise of being a "big city" HQ for the company, more affordable than NYC, and allows the senior execs to still live in the comfort of New England and not have to make a major culture shift to a place they aren't familiar with. Most of the top branch of the company has connections to the Boston area too such as the President and CFO.

I would be surprised if the senior execs were looking to move themselves to the Southeast unless they are looking for warmer weather for personal reasons. Leaving most of the 5,800 employees behind in Hartford shows it isn't really a cost cutting thing, but rather moving the senior execs and most highly paid employees to a city with the amenities and luxuries they expect at their pay level (much like GE's "HQ relocation" of a few hundred high paid jobs in a company of 333,000 people to Boston, while leaving the rest of the old HQ jobs in Connecticut).

If they were moving the bulk of the jobs and doing relocation of the middle class employees, I'd think Charlotte would be in the mix, but this isn't a middle class job relocation.
