I agree. Although you've reminded me of the wonderful structures I frequently forget about that I believe could have been integrated into the park very easily, and to great effect. Let's pour one out for those that have returned to the dirt...

I hated seeing those buildings come down. They could have easily been worked into the park design. It was a missed opportunity.

I'm tired of Stock illustration options for Charlotte's skyline, so I started working on one to use/sell, and I have to say I have an new admiration for Interstate Tower, it'd be easily the best tower in tons of places. Heres the progress so far.

Yes I love Interstate tower.  IMO it would rule Raleigh's skyline.

Close - The Interstate Tower at 121 West Trade Street is 462 ft./140.8 m. tall and 32 stories.  Including Legacy Union 1 (still under construction) the Interstate Tower is Charlotte's 11th tallest building. 

There is only one building in Raleigh that is taller than Charlotte's Interstate Tower - the PNC Plaza building which is 538 ft./164 m. tall and 32 stories.   Images of both buildings below.

They are pretty comparable, despite the christmas tree on top of PNC.

PROGRESS: So glad I'm doing this. So much fun. Hearst is such a beautiful building too. I should probably update Skysraper page while I'm at it.

Where can I place my order for a Tee-shirt with this logo, XL please and in these Panther blue and black colors for the skyline?  and I will need one for Johno Harris too since Legacy is featured

KJ's inaugural Best of Photo series one photo from each month this year.   What a year Charlotte has had!

Each photo represents that month starting with January all the the way to Grand Bohemian taking last week.  12 months so 12 photos. 

1. a shorter Legacy 1 in Jan.  2. Bank of America Plaza and Corp. Center in Feb. 3.  My first BLE Lynx ride March 23 from Old Concord 4. Development enveloped all of intown Charlotte but not everyone sold out. April.  5. before the steel came the site work at Ally Tryon Place in May.  6. Summer in the city June  7.  Legacy rising taller and taller 8. Dimensional Funds in August

9. Stonewall St was full of construction all year long 10. The Railyard nearing completion and attracting big name tenants.  11. so many cranes with Legacy and Ally Tryon Place rising in early Nov.  12. Grand Bohemian is rising really fast!  

Happy New Year looking forward to the following towers rising vertically   JW Marriott, Legacy 2,  FNB Tower, Intercontinental, Lennar Block 42 tower and hopefully even more in South End.

Happy New Year. Not a beautiful picture but a reminder that even the worst beige buildings in Charlotte aren’t so bad, and the nice mid rise buildings in Charlotte are really quite nice.

While it does have retail, it’s terrible. It’s Soviet in appearance!
