A lot of you probably missed this, but in today's Gazette, there was an article about how the Duncan's sold their farm for the AA Stadium. Well, near the end of the article, in mentions that the Duncan's have heard that a Water park could come between 56th street and I-540, (basically in between the Stadium and I-540)!!!!!!

Hey I did miss that. There's something else that might help get something going in Springdale.

Here's an article I found on 40/29's website for a Whitewater park in Fayetteville. :shok:

Although Springdale has been in the news since city leaders announced plans for a new sports arena, another northwest Arkansas city has some big plans of its own.

Developer Billy Herring said Sunday that he wants to build a new whitewater park in Fayetteville.

Herring said a population increase and economic growth in northwest Arkansas have helped raise demand for nontraditional sports such as whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing. He said the new park would cater to all whitewater rowing sports.

The park would feature a 900-foot-long artificial rapids channel that has a constant current pumped back to the top. Herring said beginners and professionals alike could use the course.

According to Herring, the design will be functional but will not necessarily be influenced by the appearance of Arkansas

The pinnacle one isn't being pursued anymore.

I think something the size of Wild River Country in North Little Rock.

Maybe I was confused but I thought that there was possibly one being planned in Springdale near the ballpark and another in Fayetteville. I just meant that two that close together would be a mistake.

Yeah the Fayetteville White Water Park would be a white water rafting park for sports enthusiasts to experience the thrill of white water rafting. It wouldn't be a water park full of screaming kids splashing around in a wave pool or shooting down slides... that one will be in Springdale. So they really wouldn't conflict with each other at all.

Ah, I see. Weird, I wouldn't think the park they were putting in Fayetteville would do well at all. Put in Dallas where there's no whitewater within a few hundred miles. There's plenty of whitewater in the Ozarks.

I'm not sure. I know that the Buffalo National River has moderate white water in some areas, but the water level is so low sometimes that you have to walk your canoe between the white water areas. I think a white water park would be great for off-seasons and for people who have never done it before. There's no "extreme" white water rafting in the Ozarks. West Virginia has some great white water, but I've never done it before.

I think there is some but it only lasts for short amounts of time. Seems like I've heard the Mulberry rated pretty high.

I can't say how well it would do but I would hope it would do well. I think it could be a good training ground for people wanting to practice or for that matter try a little whitewater when some of the streams and rivers up here get low during the dry summers.

The Mulberry is the best. It's between Ozark and Fayetteville on the "Pigtrail" that used to be a good secondary route to Fayetteville. That has real whitewater. The Buffalo only gets fast in the spring or after a heavy rain.
