I've heard good things a/b Birmingham, but never been there. Looks like a nice DT. Does the interstate (20?) run through the middle, or is that the edge of the city?

Interstate 20 and Interstate 59 combine outside of Meridian, MS, and run together all the way through B-Ham. The interstate runs right along the downtown area, and in the last picture you can sort of see how it curves towards the outside of the downtown area.

This angle is cool for me, because my parents have shown me many pictures taken with me standing next to the water fountain here when I was around two, nearly twenty years ago now. I owned Jackson Square as a kid growing up in the Quarter!

This famous statue of General Andrew Jackson, the hero of the Battle of New Orleans, has been in Jackson Square for over 150 years now:

I've been very bad about keeping up with this topic. Anyway lost of nice pics been posted. It's certainly nice to get to see so many other areas I've never gotten to see before. Anyway here's a few pics from me. Here's Old Main on the University of Arkansas campus. I had to take some of them from odd angles in my attempt to hide scaffolding as they do a little restoration work. Constructed between 1873 and 1875.

Awesome photos, wrldcoupe! That's another aspect of Richmond that reminds me quite a bit of New Orleans, they both seem to have a never-ending amount of monuments and statues all around the city. I'm not familiar enough with Richmond to really speak about it, but I've lived in New Orleans all my life, and I couldn't even begin to name every single major monument or statue in the city.

Outside of the Square itself, looking towards the river and Cafe Du Monde:

And as a bonus, here's a shot of New Orleans' more historical skyline taken from across the Mississippi River. The spire's of the Saint Louis Cathedral tower high above anything in the surrounding area, and other than the Jax Brewery on the Riverfront, this view really hasn't changed at all in the last 220 years, and that's why I like it so much.

Nice shots guys. Wish my city had more statutes. I also like that waterfall fountain RestedTraveler. That architecture reminds me of some stuff recently built in my metro. Wish it was in a setting like that.
