One thing that troubles me is the white facade. Will we be looking at the dirty black streaking we see on 50 Monore? Does anyone know the makeup of the facade? Here in Chicago there are a few new concrete condo buildings that are painted white. They are already showing dirt and rust stains.

All and all not a bad design - I do like the transparancy.

I think the same thing Woz. I'd love to see something that fits in with the current buildings better (it is my favorite 2 blocks in GR), but I do like the building!

I might like this building somewhere else downtown, but on Ionia Avenue, I'd rather see another classy, Bank of Holland-type building over this piece any day.

They definately look like interior designers and not architects. I wonder who the design architect is.

Their website says they're a member of the AIA and they list "Architecture, Site planning, conceptual design and exteriors" as a design service. :dontknow:

those condo's look HUGE.. seriously compared to anything downtown those are by far the largest i've seen... have fun with those assoc. fees.

Apparently the association bylaws mandate a piano in every condo. I must say I keep liking the look of Tall House more and more every day. And just think, they'll have their own theatre to go to down the street!

Here is a quote from today's Rapid Growth Article:

"Construction of Tall House, a new high rise condo 45 Ionia, is set to begin by December 2006. The 11-story building will rise on what is now a parking lot adjacent to Van Andel Arena and include 30,000 square feet of retail and commercial office space as well as 70 condominiums."

There's a lot of other activity going on with this as well. Apparently a sales office will open on the site in the next week or two (probably modular). And I also heard through the grapevine that ROI Design is looking to move from their offices North of downtown to the Heartside/Ionia area to oversee Tall House, and they'll open a more permanent sales office somewhere in that area.
