Plymouth Congretional Church on Lansing's north eastside. It has an interesting set up. It's a modern-styled church where the pulpit is in the middle of the church and everyone sits around it.

I have a major gripe with it, though, and it's the fact that it's set up as a "walk through" campus. It would be even better if they opened it up to the people and put some decorative benches for people to sit on, and such like they do in Reutter Park. It feels much more like a monumental "living room" than a people's "den". My major gripe with downtown is that it has no downtown focal point as the capitol has a very "keep of my" lawn feel, even though it's the people's house. I'd love to see a better 'central square' created from the parking lot in front of the new Constitution Hall building where concerts and such could be held. Riverfront Park serves as the events park for downtown, but it feels so cut off from downtown despite being within its boundaries.

The size and location make it really hard to photograph accurately, but I'll see what I can get. I'm not promising anything, though.

I'm not really a big fan of the thing. They designed a suburban-styled school in every sense of the word (i.e. huge setback from the streets, surrounded by parking...) right in the middle of the Eastside, and it may lead to the historic Pattengill being demoed.

It's location though was not really suited for anything urban in design though- I think it would have looked a little awkward. As much as historic Pattengill was nice looking, it's facilities were very poor and needed replacing.

I'm a Catholic Central graduate and I heard through the grapevine that CC lobbied and even tossed in some money for a larger parking facility at Pattengill to accommodate events across the street such as basketball games and plays which always produced overflow crowds that had parked on the vacant lot that was there before the school. Is there any truth to this? I have never heard anything other than the word of mouth.

Call me stupid, but I never knew Grand ledge was called that because it actually had "ledges" oookay!

But hey, what can you say when the Rapids aren't all that Grand, The Flint doesn't spark, and all that's north of Detroit is a Royal joke.

Ha, ha.

I remember climbing those ledges a number of years ago with friends. Can you still do that?

Your photographs are truly art! They deserve a proper display or recognition.
