Nashville, TN will have to rely on tourists to fill the stadium.  As Kburg demonstrated, the population within 100 miles of Raleigh totally eclipses the competition and the location between GA and DC is perfect.  They would be idiots to pick Nashville, IMHO.

Very good chance FC Nashville and the Titans have squeezed out every bit of support for any public funding of sports facilities. That may be an under the radar factor as well.

Sizing up the competition in the southeast for a MLB team.

Charlotte, Nashville, Raleigh: Who's on deck for a pro baseball team? - RALtoday (6amcity.com)

I am here to tell you there is no big effort to bring MLB to Charlotte.  MLB talks about Charlotte a lot more than Raleigh but we dont have the money to fund a stadium or even contribute with the the kind of money Charlotte will have to spend on the BofA Stadium renovations desired by Mr Tepper. Plus we are currently doing a renovation of the Spectrum Center where the Hornets play.

I think the story is even worse in Nashville for funding unless the state comes in and contributes a lot of money towards it.  They have built or building a new Titans domed stadium and just completed a new soccer only stadium.

The Carolina Hurricanes just finished the regular season with their 61st-straight sellout game.

After 9-straight seasons of missing the playoffs, MLB Raleigh bid leader, Tom Dundon, became the majority owner of the Hurricanes franchise. Since then the club has since made 6 straight playoffs with 2 final four appearances. Certainly the strength of this prospective owner is being noticed by those evaluating MLB expansion bids.

don't let me Charlotte friends hear me say this but the Hurricanes are the best run pro sports team in NC by far not to mention the most successful.

How can that even be debated by or bother anyone?

As the old saying goes...the truth shall set you free!

Don't forget that hugely successful Stadium Game. He was the main visionary behind that. The man is a leader and knows potential.

CBS is reporting that the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes NHL hockey players were told that the team will be moving to Salt Lake City. That city has the 2034 Winter Olympics coming, and presumably a new arena for the team will be a part of the new facilities plan for SLC. That is a lot of public money focus for a city that has 78% of the population that Raleigh has (according to KJHburg's post). SLC is in the process of rebuilding their airport for $4.1 billion. While much of that funding is from Delta, the federal government, and bonds, it still begs the question of how many resources SLC has for something like a MLB stadium in the next 5 years.  On 2/28/24 the Utah legislature approved funding for moving forward with plans for an MLB stadium in SLC.

""While we think a majority of folks understand MLB isn’t looking to cover land but people…we’ve attached a second map. The smaller red blob has MORE people at LESS than 40% the size as the bigger red blob.""
