Wow, very Las Vegas. Normally to me that would equal gaudy, but it's pretty cool looking.

So, now that it's nearly complete, how close to the video did it end up?

Aside from the scale of the streets and buildings being almost cartoonishy inaccurate at times, overall the video pretty much nailed it.

I was told they won't be lighting up the sign until Marriott gives its final sign-off. Marriott doesn't own or operate it, but because it's a franchise certain standards have to be met before Alticor can light up a sign and officially call themselves a JW Marriott.

Thats kind of odd... I definitely remember seeing it lit-up last week sometime... Must've been test driving the sign to make sure it worked.

I checked it out last night too and the lobby looks awesome coming across the Pearl St bridge...

I made it a point to go east over the Pearl St. bridge after work today, and WOW. I was overwhelmed. Atop that, the towers atop the GRAM were lit as well.. which are downright beautiful.

So you are attacking the aesthetics of a small windsock that is 20-odd stories off the ground? That seems like a real reach.

Do they really need to fly the windsock all the time? Takes away from the beauty of the building - I think. Are they really expecting to use that pad often? Are they offering VIP rides to GRR? I understand the need to have it up when a copter is approaching, but all the time? Tacky.

I saw the windsock yesterday and it is more noticeable than you'd think, but I don't know how practical it is to take it down and put it back up again as needed. Who really cares anyway?
