Tried a product or visited a business you were so impressed with, you just want to tell people about it?

Conversely, did you try a product or a business that is so bad you feel obliged to warn people?

AND.... do you have a question about a product or local business that you think someone here at UPO might be able to enlighten you on?

I'll start out with the first question.

I have a 7" Google (Asus) Nexus tablet I bought back around 2014, which needs the power on/off button repaired.

Can anyone recommend, based o  personal experience, one of the many small gadget/device repair shops that have sprung up everywhere in he past few years?

You know, like UBreakIFix - Everything Breaks etc.?

I recently dropped my phone and damaged the glass so I've been meaning to get the glass replaced. Started checking around and noticed UBreakIFix in SODO has great reviews. I thought you moved to the middle of nowhere in Wyoming though??

Getting a new device seems to be the consensus. But some of us try to get long term use out of things... I think I'm the same as you and would prefer to make small repairs if the device still works, but sadly the "system" makes it more expensive to repair the damn thing and cheaper to replace it thus encouraging the spiral of electronic waste/consumption. We're destroying the planet with no serious plans on changing our ways

If by "provider" you mean phone service,  I don't have one because, believe it or not, I don't use a cell phone.

I've never been a part of the throw-away society and I don't plan to join. 

As for the tablet, I only use it for the camera anymore. It has a 5MP (yeah I know...BFD) rear facing camera, that takes decent pics. I also use it as a document "scanner". Since I no longer use my ancient desktop that had a flatbed scanner attached to it, I just photograph any document I need a digital copy of using that tablet.

The thing about  buying a new one with an equally decent camera, is that they cost nearly $200. 

I'm thinking I could get the power button repaired on my old one for much less while helping keep down electronic waste.

If not, c'est la vie.

BTW....

RECOMMENDED for anyone who has old electronics they want to get rid of.  Rather than just "frisbee it into the trash", drop it off at Staples in Colonial Plaza. They take old electronics for recycling.

Does anyone know of a place that sells FRESHLY baked fococcia bread? Hot and ready to go, topped tomatoes with olive oil leaking... I watched a documentary about old restaurants in Italy and worked up a craving. I don't think Advent Health has a retail bakery shop anymore, otherwise I would inquire there - they used  to make it in the cafeteria circa 2000's on a rotating menu and it was delicious.

Ronnie’s had a retail bakery shop and I miss it so….meanwhile, Advent leveled first the classic ‘40’s HoJo and now the baconless Wendy’s. Have you noticed the dearth of places to eat around the hospital? It gets much better as you reach White Wolf and Ivanhoe but north of there is a food desert.

I will say focaccia may be the easiest bread to make and if you want to have it steaming hot you should give it a go. Add what you want; tomatoes, olives, grapes, rosemary...

BTW....

I would check Youtube for a video of someone taking the laptop apart and servicing the power button if you're so inclined.  A Macbook is like  in the 4 figure range...

I worked part time at Advent Health from 2008 to 2012.

I've had that cafeteria focaccia bread many times and you're right... it was quite good.

Operating a "commercial" business in a residential neighborhood is problematic with random cars coming in and out of the place. That's not what a house is zoned for and I personally wouldn't support something like this.

Florida was pretty late in improving their cottage industry laws, but now allows these type businesses and, in fact, blocks localities from not allowing them. This particular business does not operate typical business hours, but instead has a pick up time window. Most Saturday mornings there will be a sizable line in front of her place waiting for pick up. Most of the neighborhood walks or bikes there and she has no on-site parking. Personally, I'm all for this type of operation. But then I'm the type that buys milk, cheese, eggs, meat and the veggies I can't grow from local farms.

I probably wouldn't want a house of prostitutes next door, but I'd be thrilled with her bakery. Of course the difference is one is illegal and the other is not. I also feel her type business lends itself to a more connected neighborhood fabric and is what separates the area from suburban neighborhoods where HOA would not permit this type of thing. I'm not aware of any neighbors complaining and I know many are her customers and a few work with her on delivery day- so all seems okay for her. OTOH, I can appreciate not all businesses would be as respectful of the neighbors or as desirable as a neighbor.

Also, this particular location is a few steps from an eye Dr/ botox center, 100 yards from the ball fields and tennis courts at the park and 100 yards from the traffic and parking problems that plaque Lakeside at Delaney. I doubt anyone notices the bakery's once a week 3 hours of customers.
