Orlando Health just added paid parental leave along with big jumps in adoption and fertility support. Finally feeling the pinch on the need to support your workforce or they will leave.

Single/childless employees need to revolt... pregnant coworkers can get 3 months off no problem, meanwhile I can barely get time off for myself without causing a stink about it. Their family planning should not affect my life. I'm all for support as long as it is evenly applied across the board. Yes, I'm that person lol

Get ready to see even higher costs for hospital stays and all other services there. Because the patients and their insurance companies are the ones who will be paying for these three month paid vacations.

When I think of how back when I was growing up and later as a young adult, how families somehow managed to thrive and survive without all the gimme-gimme perks people nowadays swear they'll just DIE without, it amazes me that we still exist as a country.

Today's workers seem to view their employers as mommy and daddy.

I hope I never have to go to Orlando Health for treatment.

I'll never do so voluntarily.

We always skip Orlando health.

I remember having the ambulance drive right past it to Florida Hospital

Another thing that is interesting with these hospitals. They claim their high costs are also due to having to eat all the indigent hospitalization costs. Well, let's expand on that. Hospitals are known for charging $250 for a tylenol and all these other rediculous self pay rates for uninsured. When it comes tax time for the for profit hospitals (looking at you HCA), they take it as a loss. So at the highest tax bracket, they are recouping so much of their costs.

Don't you worry, JFW, if you ever need any medical assistance, I'll be happy to assist...for free.

Oh the various ways hospitals make money...and the allegiances they have to major suppliers, like Stryker (cool name, though), and Big Pharma.  I harped on this during Covid.  But, I know for a fact that you may have a D/X, walk into Advent, Orlando Health, and then go to Moffitt, and have a different treatment protocol at each (or at least at Moffitt).

Now why is that?

It's really amazing, that Walgreens at Columbia Street was like the only thing out there when they built the first of two hotels on the north side of the road.  Since then, that entire sub-quadrant of the ORHS campus is like completely built out or close to it.  A lot of money has gone into there...
