Here's a website showing the new VCU School of Dentistry.

It's located on East Leigh between 11th and 12th Streets. I believe that's directly across Leigh from the new School of Nursing.

This website courtesy of a posting on Richmond City Watch.

I like the slightly Egyptian columns and arch of the facade which ties in with the Egyptian Building that was the original Medical College of Virginia site on College Street. It is across Marshall Street from North Hospital and very near Massey Cancer Center and historic Monumental Church.

The rendering for the new VCU Med building at southeast corner of 12th and Marshall looks quite nice. It will replace the little sister to the signature 18-story tower at northeast corner of 12th and Broad. I'm sure most preservationists, while sad about the "little sister" going, are breathing a sigh of relief that the main tower which used to have a searchlight scanning the sky is not facing demolition...yet.

Looks like the new VCU medical building is still on track. There's a nice new rendering with the (basic) info.

At yesterday's "Seeing is Believing" sessions of downtown activity held at The Carpenter Theatre it was revealed that this $158.6 million new tower at VCU will grow the Medical School on the downtown campus by a third, making it one of the largest medical schools in the country.

See the newspaper report I just posted in the Richmond Development thread for more details.

Thanks Brent for posting the rendering of the building to be erected at 12th and Marshall Streets which is expected to open in 2013.

Here is VCU's list of current and future developments:

VCU's Academic Campus opens its snazzy new 125,000 s/f sports facility.

And to think this big red hulk of a building used to host symphony orchestras, concerts and more when it was known as City Auditorium in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries!

It served Richmond's cultural needs until the nearby Landmark Theatre (nee The Mosque) opened in 1928.

I wonder if VCU will see a spike in applications because of it, as they did witht he more recent national exposure of their basketball program. I wouldn't doubt it.

Here's a slide show of VCU student Carissa Cameron accepting her Miss America crown at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas:
